Picked up one of these to true up the shaft size and length between the Briggs and the Kawasaki.

We’ll see how that works out. Got hammered with rain lately, no progress. I have next week off though, so hopefully then!

I've used them quite often. They seem to work quite well.

Didn’t get a chance to test anything yet but based off this info:

It looks like 3A DC unregulated and 14v AC for lights coming off the stator. Faded red and a black coming from stator:

If you have 14v a/c off one leg of the stator, the other should be the same. That gives you 28v a/c total. The regulator should switch that to DC and give you just shy of 14v DC to run the clutch and charge the battery. I'd say you are in good shape.

I’m not much of a small engines guy, but I’m getting better for sure. I’ll have a better grip on it once I actually break out the meter and do some testing. But yeah, I think I’m in good shape so far. My lawn is getting unwieldy, so I gotta make sure I’m not missing anything before I transplant this setup onto the Ferris. I’ve got next week off work, gotta catch up on a bunch of home maintenance tasks, but the Ferris is at the top of this list.

    :fingers crossed:

Looking into it a touch further, took the doggo out for her business and snapped a few pics. I see no regulator on it anywhere unless it’s built into one of the connectors.

Worst case is I’ll have to add one.

Follow that red wire that goes under the shroud. It should go to the reg.

Good to know, the reg on my Kawi is mounted outside that shroud. Wouldn’t have expected it to be under

Edit: I plan to pull the shroud anyway to gap the coils and clean. Kid I bought from put coils on it but doubt he gapped them.

I scored my first mini excavator for $12,500 at auction because it was inoperable. One $60 hydraulic hose later and she was good to go!

Guys! Keep an eye on your oil. Connecting rod siezed on the crank. No oil in the thing. This is the 1st time I removed an oil filter and no oil was present!

Block is fucked too. Broke pieces out of the bottom of both cylinders.

Installing a Harbor Freight Predator. Waiting on adapters.

    Standby...

You have extra Predators hanging around? Unless that's a horizontal motor, I haven't seen the verticals for sale on HF's website in quite a while. I'd skip all the BS with swapping a used motor on mine if I could find a Predator vertical 20+hp.

That said, going to look at another Craftsman rider after work if still available. It's a GT5000 with I believe a 25hp motor on it. They said it "won't start" and asking $65 for it. If I can get it to pop on Ether, it'll come home with me as well. Then I have two motor options, or I can flip it for a profit to recoup my overall cost for repairing the Ferris.
