Ours is the same way, red dirt. Someone ask me in another thread on here "what is wrong with your dirt".

I envy you. This clay is no joke. My father has an old 3pt hitch backhoe that I thought maybe I could turn into a trailer mounted unit. I think it would just push the trailer around. I've got a buddy with a backhoe on his 40hp Mahindra, Is should see if it can break my ground. If so, maybe I'll just build a subframe for my Massey.

This is when I plowed our garden last fall so it could freeze out over the winter.

If my yard broke up like that, I'd lay down some decent soil, plow it all up, break it up, add lime, smooth it out and plant new grass.

My current plan of attack, for "some day" is to core aerate, add lime, top dress with good soil and a land plane, plant new grass.

Getting closer. I need to get some flat rocks now to stack around it and lay on the top lip.

I think I’d also like to drop some round-ish river rock in the bottom.

Cutting more hay yesterday and my parts order came in, upgraded my intake and exhaust on the Massey 35. The original oil bath air cleaner box somehow vibrated itself to failure, the sidewall opened up which was no good. Had it temporarily patched with a generous amount of the handyman’s secret weapon til I ordered the cylindrical style oil bath filter to replace it. Looks better now but it didn’t come with a bracket so i mounted it with some stuff I had lying around.
    Old one:

    New one:

the belly exhaust has been held to the manifold with vice grips since winter when the studs failed, so now I went ahead and replaced it with a vertical exhaust anyways so I don’t burn my hayfield, though that seems unlikely. I also no longer have to deal with diesel fumes while hooking things up in the back. Figure it’ll be better for hayrides and whatnot too. New muffler sounds way better and noticeable quieter, old one was probably shot. It’s still loud compared to more modern tractors though, but I’m happy with it.

Had a Ford 601 once with exhaust out the back, couldn't stand it when hooking up an implement. Wound up cutting it up front and elbowing it above the front tire.

Whatever you do, make sure it's something you can 'vacuum' with a siphon hose to clean it out, because if you've got waterfowl they're going to fill that bad boy up with sh*t faster than you'd think possible.

Oh yeah, we only have one goose, but he messes his pond up very quickly. We are putting a small picket fence around this one to keep him out.

We had built a small pond for the ducks (3) and the goose, with a rock/concrete bottom, and I was having to drain it down every week and hose it out. Finally we got tired of it and I just dug them one in a low spot on our lower lot. When it rains regularly, they've got a pond. When it doesn't, they don't
And when we have a prolonged dry spell, I go in with the tractor and skim the top couple of inches of 'soil' from the bottom with the loader to mix into the garden in the fall.

    This is our Goose “pond”

    https://youtu.be/Ug2H4-sycB0

It has a drain, so I can just drain it, hose it out, and fill it back up.

Yeah, when there's no rain they're stuck using a big rubber feed pan instead. I think it's like 15 gallons or something like that.

I just searched it, it is oil pressure. If it and the alternator light both keep coming on that seems more like a wiring issue to me.

Don't know if this is appropriate to post here. Just in case, my Kubota TLB is in the background. And don't mind the Ram. Haven't owned a Tacoma in over 4 years. The front end is covered in the carnage that comes with the territory when driving the 15 hours down the TransCanada from where I reside, to where I consider home. Anyways, do we have any fans of classic mowers here? Two stroke Lawnboys in particular. Just picked up my third. Other than a little bit of clean up, replacing the wheels and wheel bushings, and picking up the proper pull cord handle off of eBay, which hasn't arrived just yet, she's ready to mow.
