I like the homemade shade canopy. I've been wanting one for mine, but the cheap ones are like $300 and they only go up from there. I might have to try a plywood version instead. I've seen ballast boxes like the one you have. Something like that is what I'm going to model the box I build on.

@w.adventures This JD is in the same class of tractor as the Kioti CS line. As evidenced in his pics, you can do a lot with a sub compact tractor. Those are some huge tree trunks and stumps he's carrying around! You just need enough ballast to counter the weight on the forks.

And now with no new pix..... The front beam is in under the porch & all the screw jacks have been unstuck & never seized!

Now I'm waiting on the vac-truck guy to show up & see if I can afford to have that pea gravel vac'd out.
If he stiffs me again? Or no shows? Then its gonna get done the hard way= by hand.

Got a few idea's cooking around in my head for that too. Basically an 8' long x 2' wide rake to stick in the front hitch on the FEL & use it like a long distance rake under there. Might not be the best way, but it will be better than hand raking it all out . Time will tell.

So far we are doing good & have saved the porch pad though.

Spent some time disassembling my stand by genny this morning.

    Started removing the enclosure.

All that's needed is a 10 mm socket and some long extensions.

Needed to remove the stator ( generator) fan from the stator shaft. Found the long bolt that connects to the engine was loose.

I'm guessing the engine stopped so suddenly, it loosened the crank bolt.

It did make it easier to separate the stator from the engine.

Separated. The tapered shaft on the engine is a compression/friction fit. When the motor locked up, it freed both halves. Made my job easier.

Just a pic of the nat gas plumbing. It's quite simple.

I got lots of cleaning before assembling.

Old engine removed and new engine ready for installing.

Like I said above, I'm going to clean the base and treat any rust spots before assembling.

I was kind of disappointed at this point. I was sure that I had cooling fin blockage from mouse/ squirrels.

I see nothing that would have caused an overheating issue.

I'm going to have to take the other side off to see if the failure was from an over speed situation.

This is where we stop for the next couple days.

Took a hike today and did a drive thru @ the Biltmore estate gardens. The proof is in the picture.

So, one of the reasons I service the mower right before putting it away is I can just throw the battery in, add some more gas, air up the tires, and go! Did precisely that today.

First cut of the year already! I keep the mulching blades and chute on for several cuts at the start of the season, then go to the high lift.

My lawn grows like wildfire even without feeding it. The fill dirt is from an old tannery, so probably super toxic, but fertile... :anonymous:

I'm sure. A few years ago after we got Mal I had to put the kennel run in and put up a block retaining wall.IMG_20240324_193812712.jpg IMG_20240324_193801163.jpg IMG_20240324_193757166.jpg
Those blocks are the 80# ones. And had to put drain pipes in front of the wall and covered with wash stone pipes out to the front. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Some Fed. might be listening. The tractor tore up everything. So we're still trying to get the grass to come back in.:1up:
