Chicken poo is good, just have to let it decompose a little. If you add it straight to plants, it can "burn" them. Too much nitrogen i think. But let it sit and make a compost pile somewhere and it makes great fertilizer

What happened? I'm assuming fell out of the bucket but please explain.

Looking back on it, I shouldn't have raised my bucket and put the extension ladder to it so I could use the pole saw a couple years ago :anonymous:

    Wow...

I can't "like"that but I sure do respect you for having the self control to not going off on her.
Also for having the clarity of mind to immediately turn it into a lesson and get her right back on the tractor.

Hope you heal up quick. :fingerscrossed:

It's in the quote of mine, I copied and pasted it...............

Well for trimming the pear tree that we hit with the Vactruk I use a pallet on the forks, but look a lot like that guy....

Wife had me up in the air as high as Kioti would go, running the chain saw.
Of course she is screaming instructions non stop about what I should do differently/better/faster & so on. ( My wife is type A+++++++ ultra super aggressive & bossy)

Evidently I wasn't doing it right even though shes never touched a tree or ran a saw.... So she saw fit to jump off the tractor & come point out what I'm doing wrong.

YEP she hit the lever with her hip & dumped me from about 8' up. Full speed dump too. Like a hangman's door opened. I grabbed the back rail as I fell. Tore my arm up pretty good.
At the same time I was pushing the chainsaw out/away with the other hand as hard as could while fighting gravity/falling.

As my arm bottomed out that left me about 12" off the ground. I've got real long arms.
Then I let go & hit the gravel. Manyu many profanities were hurled & at that point she realized I was on the ground.

She ran over & goes what happened?

I said you damn near fkn killed me is what happened. Now get back on that fkn tractor right now.
There was no way I was gonna let her walk away from that & then be scared of it & no help moving forward. The old when you fall of a horse thing.... Get back on ASAP.

So she got in the seat now shaking like a leaf realizing she had almost killed her meal ticket & slave labor..... Went back up, got it done & then put up the tractor & went in to check the damage.

I never said a word "to" her about it & never called her a name or blamed her in any way. Told her she has to learn that when your on equipment the guy up in the air is the Boss & she just has to do what shes told.... Patiently & slowly. Don't move, don't shift your vision or focus. 100% concentration at all times. She cried for hours & called both daughters to let them know that it was an accident & she wasn't trying to get the life insurance.

Why did this just now happen after 25 years together? Well my girls were always my work buddy's when DemonDave wasn't around & they are both very good on equipment. Very patient, cautious & self aware. Plus the important part: They love to run & be involved with what I'm doing.

Now that they are all moved out, it just doesn't always time out good for one of them to visit when something needs done. So the Wife HAS to learn to be some help now.

Abby usually always runs the tractor for me when we are dropping trees or trimming branches, but she wont be in for a visit for another 2 weeks & Wife just couldn't wait, it was "hurting the tree" LMAO

Another day in the life! Will ad pix in a few minutes.

    You're welcome :hattip:

When I was about 14 my dad had me in his loader bucket with a chainsaw, he was driving along a field with it up and I was trimming trees. He hit a bump and threw me out of the loader with it up

Thank God I didn't get hurt and got back in so we could finish....dad knows one speed and safety 3rd :D

Funny, but not funny! My Papa did nearly the exact same thing to me two years ago. I was sitting on a pallet, as high as the tractor would go, trimming a damaged tree. When for no explainable reason Papa moved the control lever to tilt down. You know how sensitive the valving is on the Kioti, a little goes a long way. I was unable to grasp anything on the tractor before me the saw and the pallet were free falling. I let the saw go and tried to grab tree branches as they flew past me. I was able to get a hold of a couple skinny ones. They helped keep me vertical as I went down, so I landed feet first and rolled out of the way of the saw and pallet. I was able to eventually get back up and finish trimming the tree afterwards but the next few days moving around was rough. Papa was apologetic, and we were both lucky Mom was not watching us when it happened.:burp:

Next time I do something stupid like that, I’ll try to remember to wear a harness and secure myself to the head rack.

    KR,

You are right on about those Kioti valves being touchy! & Since shes got good hips on her... She hit it all the way. Lmao (don't let her read this).

We were never allowed to ride in the bucket, they always had us ride on the fender or we could hold on to the 3 point on top of the bush hog. (Not sure that's any better.)

Oh & it looks a lot worse today. It's getting all nice & purple/yellow

Glad no one was seriously hurt. :amen:
I had been wondering about the "float" mode for the tractor bucket.. lower the bucket to a couple inches from the ground, push the lever quickly and fully forward and the bucket drops and the up/down hydraulics stay "loose". If the bucket is 8ft up in the air and you accidentally do this... does the tractor have any smarts to save you from yourself?

Mine goes down at a controlled rate if you are all the way up & hit float.
Slower than if you put it down manually.

Unless you are doing a lather rinse repeat? Most of us skip float mode until we have the angle of the bucket set.

If you are backdragging? You pretty much know the angle you bucket works best & leave it at that for walking in gravel or sand.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I definitely don't plan to try it intentionally to find out. But I think it could be quite unsettling if it came crashing down full speed because you accidentally pushed the lever too far. o_O

You guys made me go check it on my Kioti 2610.....

did it with a full load of gravel and an empty bucket and it was pretty much the same amount of time going from full height to ground. Pushing straight to float vs pushing just straight to "full down" both took ~2 seconds (loaded and unloaded). So not much difference.

Granted you can definitely lower it slower if you arent going "full down". The biggest thing I'd say just trying it is the initial "jerk" (which occurs in both float and full donw) ....which would definitely be enough to cause someone to lose balance.
