I have had good luck with one of the Harbor Freight torches that hook up to a 20lb propane tank. Works well and lasts a surprisingly long time. And, there is the fun factor. Works really great around rocks, cracks and crevices. Not good around landscaping and plants.

Edit: Added bonus. If don't like chemicals or applying them is tricky then this method is safe, fast and effective.

I don’t know of any thing, but there is another chainsaw thread. You can check there, there are some serious chainsaw enthusiasts over there, they might know of something.

Am looking at a 2006 Kubota B7610 with fel tomorrow; it's not exactly what I want, but anyone think it'd not be able to fart-around on a few acres; spreading gravel, hauling feed for chickens/sheep, back-drag/fill some rough spots in the land, or push around maybe 8-10ft, 12" (max) diameter logs?

It a sub-compact model, but I think it would do all the things you mentioned. It might struggle with the logs, but with the proper techniques it can be done.

Thanks - tracking all. I won't push it too hard (thatswhatHEsaid). If logs look too stuck or big, i'll run a snatch block and winch it out of the way w/ the tacoma :)

    Thanks much!

Unless you are a chainsaw master....... There's really nothing you do to a good running sthil. If you need more power? You get a bigger saw.

Like he said the green is called the safety chain & I throw those away. Yellow is the go to chain for most people & red is supposed to be the danger/expert level chain.

These are a nice little machine. Good HP for the size. Will they drag a good size log? YES.
Pushing it is a little tougher cause the machine isn't real heavy. But they are a fine little machine if you get a good price on them.

You'll be fine as long as the price is right. I have a B7100 which is 16 HP and 13 at the PTO. Weight is about 1100#'s with the FEL and ROPS (thanks @LTdangle ). I drag the road dig, lift and plow
@KRAMERICA is right I move a fair amount of things with the right tools and techniques.

Thanks Gents - an online KBB type page says they are asking about $500 over “retail value” so I have some wiggle room - it’s the first tractor I’m going to look at so want to be reasoned and not only excited to get one.

Through this process I find it weird most shops around (and this one is 90 mins away) are barely open on the weekends. Frustrating too.

Just back from viewing the tractor. Fuel gauge inop, some early dry rot on one back tire, everything else seems to work fine. Oil is dark though: likely ready for a service. Will make and out the door offer + delivery and see what he says.

I have the same exact tractor. Got it from my father in law when we bought our property. Paid him 7500 for the tractor with FEL. We never really talked about all the other attachments but it’s a far where between the two of us we own most things we could need. It’s been great for me. Moving dirt and small rock. Mowing. Snow in the winter. Of course like anything else I’ve found myself wanting a bigger tractor or more power but it’s really been great.

I wouldn’t be concerned with the oil being black, I can change it in my Ford and it’ll be black in no time. If you get it I’d change it to be safe though.

Thanks guys - what kinda expense for new hydronic lines for the loader? I saw some dry rot and cracking on one of the lines up by the controller/manifold/box.

The asking price is about average retail, but I think I will ask for the allowance on the inop fuel gauge and a line or two.

You can put fresh oil in a diesel engine and as soon as you crank it up it's dark period.

It all depends on size and length, they aren’t super expensive but not cheap either.
