That’s all I needed to read
Buncha JD haters. Your all just jelly :crapstorm:

Jokes aside my nearest Kubota dealer is 45 miles farther away that the JD dealer. Otherwise it would have been a good chance I’d own an orange tractor. They’re all good tractors. Some have issues while others have none. Friend of mine bought a BX 2 something and had had lots of problems with it. This latest JD thing is a bell crank part (probly Chineseum) (What I refer to as Cat C) that had a bad batch come out and as usual they chase their tail to get replacements for it. Some cast aluminum zinc ordeal went wrong and of course no one caught it in time. :bananadead:

Mine should be at 55-67 front and 85 on rear. I put front at 60 for the happy middle.

Just got all the parts in. Now to find the time/motivation to install it in 100* heat lol

On another note the right side brake cam is stuck. It does move but not freely like the other side.
    IMG_6518.jpg

couldn’t find the muffler for my model so I pieced together a setup from another model since the under exhaust worried me with the dry brush around here

    Tm not a JD hater.........

I just like Kubota's & Kiotis's better. My Stihl dealer is also the JD dealer, so I spend lots of money there.
In a town of 6,000 people we have 7 tractor dealerships now. ;-)

Glad its coming along. On that brake cam: use it a little. Especially that side. Give it a chance to break loose.

Well...... Broke my quick hitch this morning.

It was a land pride QH05. In all fairness its a subcompact hitch & I'm running it on a midsize tractor.

My neighbor has a QH10 that he wasn't using, so cut a deal with him & got her swapped out already.
Back in business! Spread a few tons of compost on my fill in spots in the yard & getting ready for seed in September.

Moved a few loads of dirt over to the outlet on the pond as well & gonna go get a longer piece of culvert to sleeve the current piece, then rock around it this time.

Still haven't got that brush cutter on the way, but headed to look em up as soon as this is posted.

I had to go get my trailer and now was able to actually pick up the lawnmower today. I plan to change the plastic bushings in the front wheels to actual bearings and will change that 30 second oil change filter out for a normal set up on the first oil change. Does anyone have other preventative maitence advise?

Make sure you blow the grass clippings out from on top of the deck. The middle of the deck is prone to rust thru if that grass is left to sit over winter. Grass rots, draws moisture and turns acidic. The paint is no barrier to prevent the rotting grass tlfrom rusting out the deck.

The idler pulley is bearings are not sealed, just shielded. Water will enter them and they will get " growelly" from having no lube and rusting.

You can't stop them from failing, but a few squirts of any oil will help them last another season.they come from the factory with a pea sized dab of grease. It's sad.

I always take the leaf blower to my mower deck after each cut. Not only helps prevent rust but also just keeps it cleaner.

Do you know if the pulley deal is true as well on the x300 series? My 380 has zerks that I service at every oil change. Maybe there’s something else I should be doing too?

The spindles might have greasable zerks, but often they cheap out and put in shielded bearings. There is no way to get the grease past the shields unless you take apart the spindles.

The idler pulleys live outside of the deck and are exposed to the elements. They don't have zerks. Hence they dry out and get growelly. That growl is amplified by being attached to the deck.

imagine a service shop that could specialize in deck perfecting. like zerk adding, bearing upgrades etc...that could be a good buisness.

Follow up on my mower I've been fighting, went home yesterday and got on it to mow......fired up easy and didn't miss a beat. I don't think the accelerator pump will be missed....may be a different story when the weather cools down and it's time to get leaves up.

My personal Toro has a Kihler with the SAM unit. It hasn't given me any trouble yet, but if it does, those coils will be gone.

I had never heard of the SAM until you told me. I've had that mower for 5-6 years and it's been a good one, until last summer. Now that it's running good again, it's nice!
