This cold weather recently reminded me of when Virginia got hit with a lot of wet and heavy snow a few years back. We lost power along the entire 95 corridor for 5 days and there were highways full of people stuck in their cars. No running water, no heat, nada for the region.
After meeting Casper last week for coffee and gear exchange, he reminded me to run the generator for a bit (think it came up in discussion). Anyway, the power outage was a great lesson into 3 things for me......

Number 1 - Have power to run the well pump so you can poop! (this is the most important to me)
Number 2 - Have enough power to run appliances when needed or charge stuff
Number 3 - Use several sources of fuel to compensate for the other (electric/propane/gas/diesel) I have propane fireplace and range, diesel genny, etc..

    That is all....imho

I'm not too worried about getting paid for the work. Peeps in his circle are wanting work done as well. When the next cat calls up for work, all have to say is Im upside down now until I get paid on the last project. Now the hassle of collecting money is on someone else...or they will pay the bill and collect from the slow payer, themselves.

It's nice being the only guy around that is willing to fix shit.

How often does your power go out? How long does it usually stay off when it does?

I'm glad you can get this resolved without too much issue, but I still think it's bs. Seriously, good on you for being a decent guy. I understand if someone needs the helps because it's important and they don't have the flow right now. For me, it's the cheap b@stards who think they can get one over on hard working people.

Not that often . Last time was around 8 hours I think . 5 miles in either direction of my home the power goes out more often for a couple days at a time . Until yesterday I had only around 6 circuits connected to the transfer switch . Now the whole panel is hooked up . We want the hot tub heater to still kick on during the winter months if the power goes out . Basically when the power is out we can still shower and the boiler runs to heat the house . I had a Honda 6500 that did all that before . But the hot tub is a new addition soooooo just want to make sure the internals do not freeze .

Tuning up a customers SxS trailer.

Wanted it looked over before the trailer season starts.

Pretty nice trailer. Has tie downs all over, which makes it very nice to lift. I hate bending over to do bearing adjustments. These all needed a turn on the hub nut.

I found out that impact sockets or lug wrenches don't fit these alloys. I don't know if the owner knows either.

The only socket that fits is a 3)8" drive 12 point. I sent the owner those pics so he can have a socket handy if he has a blowout.

It sucks to be financially challenged. I've been there more than I would like to admit. That said, one of the best pieces of advice I ever got was, don't let other people make their problems your problems.

This the lawn mower thread, right?

I knew I'd find a use for those old mower deck belts.

Does it have a red LED light on the panel?

The flashing rate is a code for the number of hours on the unit.

I forget the number of flashes that equal the number of hours, but a search will turn that up.

Is the "pebble" finish on piston crowns the present technology? It's been a while since I have paid attention to two strokes. I'm still wondering where Honda's "Radical Burn Tech" went to.
