Added a poll just for fun. Let me know if I missed a brand. Multiple choices are allowed.

I didn’t go with best brand, just favorite

Just kidding. Vintage tractors, I'm a Ford guy. But if I was to buy brand new right now I'd probably want a Kubota.

Belt and alternator came in, it’s charging! These one wire alternators are nice for tractors that don’t have much draw on the electrical system.

Had it already been converted to 12v, or are you doing one now?

This one was 12V from the factory with a key start. I'm not sure when the Cub was changed from 6V with the pull rod on the starter to 12V. This Cub is a 1975.

Both our 140's are 12V with the pull rod from the starter, one is a 1970, the other is a 1972.

Oops, that's my bad I'll add MF now.

I've read some things about Branson on other forums, they seem to be good tractors. I guess like anything else you can get parts off the interent?

They're made in Korea (fortunately, the Southern part). They were their own entity until a couple of years ago but now they're owned by TYM. I'd double check that engine, though; last I knew they were Kukkje or something like that, but since the TYM's use Yanmar engines it's possible that has changed as well.

Aha, I thought yours was an older model.

Probably would depend on what you were doing. The Bransons are built pretty heavy, big castings & such, so if you're twitching trees or plowing land or snow the Branson would probably have the advantage. Get it into soft terrain, though, and you'll be doing more 'bucket recovery'

I have a Kubota GL3130 3cyl diesel, R4 tires, and with Glide Shift transmission. I have a Taylor Way backhoe attachment with subframe (keeps the stress off the rear diff housing), rotary mower, front loader, box scraper, and rear grader blade. It has about 800hrs on it. Never any mechanical issues. It is an awesome machine. Not sure what I'd do without it. Definitely have a lot less fun in life. I have 14 acres, mix of woods and a hay field. Really comes in handy.

Amazing machine. I have to admit, I love my tractor more than either of my 95 Tacos. I know: TacomaWorld blasphemy. :anonymous:

Here it is helping me rebuild one of my 95 Tacos:

A Cub has two holes in the hood except for one year (1955 I think). They are for oiling the generator. Since I put an alternator on it no since in having holes for water to get in.

My rears are not filled at the moment. The PO had filled them but drained them. So, probably just residual still in the tubes. The only rear attachment I have now is the blade. I know I am going to build the framework of the blade into a weight box. Im not 100% on filling the tires yet, mainoy because I need to figure out weight placement on my trailer. 4 1/2hr drive on curvy road going over the pass to get out to my property.

Got the hood and grill back on. Grill screen looks better white. Headlights are tight now.
