I went to AutoZone and asked the girl behind the counter for sparkplugs for a 1946 Towmotor LT40.

She kind of slipped in neutral and just gawked at me with an open mouth for about 10 seconds (as I smiled pleasantly) and finally stammered out "...a what...?"

I like when I walk in there with a plug from a plate compactor or jumping jack and ask for a new one. They ask what it’s for and I tell them. After pounding away on their computer for a minute I say can’t you just look up the plug and get me the same one?

It doesn't matter what it's going to look like after I cut it because it's going to be covered. I haven't decided by what yet but the internet said use the foam so you limit the amount of the crack repair product you buy by filling in deep wide cracks. In some places I knew I had pulled the trigger too hard and that was too much foam, but my thinking for most of the job was this isn't enough and I'm going to have to reapply some, LOL.

I let her stagger around the computer for a minute or two, she asked me what it was 3 times finally asking if it was a boat. o_O

I told her a forklift - when she turned to the internet I let her off and said "how about 4 Champion D21's?"

To say relief washed over her face would be an understatement.

Boss man ask me about his g/f's mower last week, said it would only run with the choke on. I said carb problem maybe. He ordered one and put it on this weekend and said it won't even start now so he brought it to the shop.

I brought my compression tester, has 125 lbs. on both cylinders and I told him to get 2 new plugs since I had them out. I was going to switch the original carb back so I drained a little gas out into a glass jug. I ask him if this mower sits outside, he said yes. I said good, found your problem. The water has a little bit of gas in it

Drained about 2 gallons out of it, put the original carb back on, new plugs, runs great now.

Hard to tell but the liquid is up to the 175 mark

Husqvarna HU775H. 7.75 B&S. Starts when cold, but runs a little rich. When warmed up, fails to start.
    Things done:
    Rebuilt/cleaned carb.
    New spark plug w/correct gap.
    Checked ignition/magneto gap.
    Correct valve clearances
Replaced flywheel shear pin (neighbor's mower. She hit a sprinkler head. but this is a separate issue as was hard starting prior to the shear pin issue)
    Checked crankshaft for runout.
Good spark. OK both cold and warmed up.
    Fresh fuel
Final thing, this is an auto-choke/easy start mower. No manual throttle control. Is the thermal module a suspect?

Sorry I can't help you because I could never solve it myself.

Every pull start Briggs & Stratton I have ever used has been a :censored: to get restarted when hot.

I’ve maintained this mower for my neighbor over the years. It has always started 1 or 2 pulls (even for a mature woman) every time until recently. My Toro TimeMaster same thing. One good pull (me) starts right up cold or hot. Not doubting you but I’ve not had that problem.
