Started a little job for a neighbor yesterday.

His place is like mine, completely surrounded by trees/brush & over the years it has gotten away from him to where he just has a little yard left & a few paths to area's. The rest has been totally taken over by briars & softwoods.

He's retiring next week & wants to start getting his place back into shape, so he's hired me to clear up some brush & so on.

Went over with the tractor & the hog .... Started at his front porch area & with the piranha bar started pushing downhill away from his house. Its steep. 15 degrees & more down to a drain out bottom then back up the other side.
Of course it rained the night before. Told him we would push some down, hog it & then let it dry for a few days & come back .... Push some more. Work our way to the bottom then move over to the other side.

Sounds simple right? Most of this was 10' high or more. Should of took pix.
Spent about 2hrs pushing down hill clearing soft woods & briars. Then flipped around & started hogging it.
Did all the hogging facing away from his house going downhill backwards. Took about an hour to do that.
At this point the ground was getting too slick for travel & was starting to slide or spin. That's where it was time to stop for the day. It was also where my back had had enough. He was a little disappointed that I stopped at 3hrs ish, but he also could see it was getting counter productive. Told him we would let this dry & do another couple hours next time.
He did really like how what we did turned out though. Already doubled what he has to mow & its mow ready for his rider when it grows in. Pushed out dozens of soft woods, several of which where near a foot diameter.

Worked the tractor pretty hard. Later after we run out of tractor able stuff will take the excavator & mini hog on it to try & some detail hard to reach stuff.

    Today is back recovery day.

Got mower running and back in neighbor’s hands. Repairs made:
    Carb rebuild
    New flywheel shear key
    Valves adjusted to spec
    Replaced blown head gasket
    Replace defective Auto-choke thermostat.
Was able to drill out broken exhaust bolt and broken extractor (my fault) using carbide bits . Installed Heli-Coil.
    Result!

Well good afternoon, while now this morning broke the almost broken deck belt on the little JD. Good thing I had a new 1 ready for action. But while I had the deck off I put the Gator blades on. Hard to tell but the discharge was farther out. Which I liked.

Meanwhile somewhere on the creek doing some Helene cleanup
