Hmmm, I'm surprised you got that much. I wonder what would cause that much more moister at your place vs mine. Being on the VA/NC line I don't think your weather is too much different from ours. I typically keep mine full as I hate to wait for it to fill up when I want to use it. I just drained mine and it's been a least a few weeks since it was last drained. That was probably 2-3 tablespoons, less than a 1/4 cup. Over the summer the humidity and temp inside the garage has averaged about 75% at 77°.

Putting a 1/4 turn ball valve on my line has helped a lot to decrease how often the compressor has to run to keep it full.

Do you have a valve to shut off the hoses? I know my lines leak a little bit and I think it's the QD connections causing most of the leakage. Before I installed the valve mine would cycle on every 3-4 hours. Now I only hear it once or twice a day, and it only takes a couple seconds to refill the lines when I want to use it.

This spring coming out of the regulator I installed the 1/4 turn valve and then the air drier.

I plumed my shop with hard pipe earlier this year. Found a couple small leaks we could hear and fixed those, replaced quick connects, etc. I guess I need to get some dish soap and find the rest.

I always turn the power off (red switch) and shut the main valve when leaving, the compressor will hold air for weeks.

I replaced the check valve a year or two ago, the original 1960 one got tired.

I though about doing that, but mine is supposed to be portable, (it's on wheels) hence soft lines and QD connections, though it hasn't moved in 7 years. :anonymous:

I wish mine would do that, but it doesn't. I didn't assemble mine, I picked it up at a return auction "as is" for $200. I suspect whoever put it together might not have been generous enough with the pipe dope on some of the assembly. :notsure:

I have my 7-1/2 hp air compressor on a Large VFD. Having the motor "soft start" keeps the house and shop from "browning out" whenever the compressor starts. I picked up the Toshiba TOS_VERT vfr for less $$ than a replacement single phase motor would have cost. It's worked for the past 15 years or more, I leave it powered up all the time. I wouldn't care to replace it however ;-)

Oh, I drained the water out about two weeks ago. nearly 2 cups measure, had not drained it all winter.
