My 3240 has typical garden tractor front wheel flange wheel bearings on 1" spindles. Boat trailers have 1" spindles as well. I converted my spindles to 4 lug trailer hubs today to accept golf cart wheels. I can get free take-off wheels and tires from my local cart shop and have a stack of them here. Also I figured I'd be better off with these as I'm loading them with 750lbs more than they normally have on them using my loader.

I cut the spindle backing washers into quarters then used a rivet cutter chisel to slice the welds off. Sanded to size with my angle die grinder. Bought a 1" to 1.25" top link bushing for the seals to ride on and bearing to butt against. Just had to cut the bushing in half and weld it on at the right spot to let me snug up the bearings against it.

I figured something out when trying to figure out how I wanted to preload the bearings. Put it all together with 1 big washer against the outer bearing and the factory 1/2" end bolt and washer against it.

Turned it hub down and let the weight of the assembly push on the bearings while I welded the bearing backing sleeve. Bearings should be preloaded perfect with the stock end bolt. I clamped a glove around it when welding to keep the bearing from getting slagged. I can always use shims if I don't like the preload I got.

If you are thinking of doing this you need about 4.25" of straight spindle to work with. The bearings sitting in the hubs are 3.75" apart.

Just on the outside of the other tire lol> Pic was just for demo. These will go on my 3240 loader GT and I will also convert my 3205. My co-worker still has both of those at his house doing dirtwork.

I bought these spindles from ebay just so I could convert and swap out. I may try the XT3 in the pic last as it has a different type of 1" spindle.

What are you using it for? If you're just limbing with it, you'll notice the extra weight in a hurry. But the flip side of that extra weight will be that it'll chew through trunks a bit faster.
Personally, if they're close to the same money I'd get the XP, if you're using it as a general-purpose saw (limbing & bucking).

Mostly bucking and figured the xp is very universal with enough power to get the job done that we’ll encounter

Here’s one thread where we discussed saws: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what-chainsaw-do-you-run.314274/page-12#post-22197843

I use a ported Husqvarna 359 that runs like a banshee and I love it now that it’s modded and perfectly tuned. If I were getting a new saw I’d go with Stihl though. They’re more money but there’s a reason that’s what you see most professionals using.

Most of them are gone. They get stepped on and are made of aluminum. I’m sure many are lost in a field or yard somewhere.

We’ve only got 4, the John Deere A, the Ford 4630, and two IH 140’s. I like them all but my Ford is my baby.

Mostly bush hogging where we hunt, and messing around the yard. It’s a little big for 1.27 acres :anonymous:

I keep up 44 acres for a friend, in exchange he lets us hunt it.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! having trouble with my 50 8N it is having loss of power it will idle up and down and will barley pull its own. I have replaced the carb, governor, points, distributor, coil, plugs and wires. and it still has now power I took it to a shop and the guy said it needs the engine rebuild the rest of it is in really nice shape. but I think he is trying to pull a fast on on me because he really wants to buy it to flip it. so I think I'm going to pick it up this week. Any Idea of what it could be and how hard is it to rebuild if that is what it needs?

Have you checked the fuel tank pickup for debris ? Blow air back thru the fuel line into the tank with the fuel cock open, then reconnect and start and run. If it has power after that even for a short time, you Have debris in the tank that is collecting at the pick up and causing a restriction. I’ve cleared a lot of these in older equipment.
I’ve Found wasps, roaches, bees, leaves stuck in the fuel shut off valves and bottom of tank. on pick up tube I’ve had floating balls of mud get sucked in and block the pickup. Fuel doesn’t de solve them, water does. It’s weird.
