I loved everything about my Taco except the tranny and laggy bottom end too. OP, I turn on the ECT button EVERYTIME I start the thing. The ECT button is always ON.

I have the power I need anytime, and I love it. I drive 120 miles round trip to work a day from interstate at 75mph to 1/2 city driving. The crazy shifting happens only once in a while if there is a heavy wind.

I also went from 15/16 mpg up to 19/20mpg and I have 23,000 miles on it.The tranny update really helped with being able to use the cruise. With the ECT button on all the time it drives like a normal truck, and the huge increase in power and especially fuel mileage was a game changer for me to keep it.

With the Tundra you can get an SR5 with the off road package.

I despise having to hit extra buttons just to get the truck to drive/perform like it should
