hi guys, have anyone had trade their automatic tacoma to get a manual transmission? How much did you loose on your trade? What other expenses are related to this??

I'm fine with my 2016 4cyl sr auto but I miss (highly) a stick shift so I'm just asking to know if it's possible for me or not..

I just traded mine. It would have cost me right around $5k on top of my trade (not counting tax, title, fees) to go to the same configuration I had but in a manual (DCSB TRD OR). I added the tech package and some other options so it was a bit more.

My auto also had just shy of 50,000 miles on it so it was a pretty good deal for me.

Ironic eh? Used to be 1500 bux cheaper for a stick...now they cost more, in the scheme of things.

Do it, if it doesnt hurt $$ wise too much...you'll not regret a moment !

Everybody's deal will be a little different, based on multiple factors.

The only way to know your specifics is to go make your best deal.

    Me too!

    :burnrubber:

When I bought my Tacoma, almost everyone I know gave me a weird look and asked "why did you get a manual". The wife said it's stupid. She can drive a manual, but she said it's stupid because I'll never be able to sell it.
    IDGAF. :notsure:
When it's time for another new one, I'll keep this one as a beater and I'll buy another manual (assuming they're still making them).

You lose the proximity key right out the door. Even with all the bells and whistles, Toyota thinks we are to stupid to push a button and hold in the clutch at the same time. Other than that, there is no way I would have bought my truck without a manual. Do it. DO the trade.

+1. Whenever it's time to drive, I get stoked, and that's priceless in my book. Like, I'm happy 4 or 6 times a day. Also for some reason I don't remember my other tacomas ever being this fun.

Or, you know, have the button not do anything if clutch isn't depressed and truck isn't in neutral... same way other manufacturers do it. But noooo, gotta save that $2. :(

Yet, every high end muscle/sport/exotic car has and has had a push button start plus manual trans for years... I don't get it.

The resell market will be smaller, but far more fierce. People that want a stick will not settle on an auto.
