My in law is a Dodge head mechanic. He likes the Ram engine however the ZF based 8 speed has its fair share of issues. That is the primary concern at the moment.

Other parts would be the electrical system. Might change for the 2019 the Ram 1500 will be made in the States again rather than Mexico.

hey guys, after scratching my head for few days and run around to test drive, I think I would take 2017 Titan instead of frontier or ram. I'm currently buggin the number with dealer, let see if it happen.

I know a lots of friends that have rams and I must admit they are nice trucks to drive almost bought 1 myself but decided on a taco hopefully I made the right choice... Of all the friends I know with 2 year old rams they've all been back to the shop for random issues. I had a 2005 ram 1500 4.7 v8 I bought from new. At 165000kms it was in need of serious repairs header studs breaking off 1 by 1, tranny started having issues and my power steering pump sounded like a bag of loose bolts. There is a reason you can buy a box of lucky charms and pull out a free ram.... IMO

RAMS look nice, but the longevity isn't there IMO. I wouldn't trust it to be a 200k vehicle.

The Frontier... I can't believe anyone is buying those right now with their stale looks unless they are getting at a big discount.

Titans are nice. Not in love with the new looks of them though personally.
Let us know what type of price dealers are discussing on the Titan. I'd be curious to hear.

I've always thought the 5.3 felt like a pig. You have to really get on it to get it to wake up. But at least they fixed the off-center steering wheel and square wheel wells for 2019.

I was going to go Tundra, I had a hard time getting myself to spend more money for a truck that gets significantly worse MPG and didn't have as many options as an F150 XLT. Then I drove a 2.7 Ecoboost and it was all over, that is one great drivetrain. Special ordered a loaded XLT 4x4 supercab with 3.73 gears and I should see it within two weeks now.

Longevity probably isn't as good, but I tend not to hold onto vehicles long enough for that to be a problem anyway. I've had my Tacoma for 4 years and that's the record.

I did test drive ram, it was very nice and good looking truck, but after research, I think they have trans problem with v6, lifter problem with v8, some lucky get away with no problem, personally I would not take a risk

I am working on a pre owned titan I will let you know.

Ecoboost is real nice, I have friend that owned both 2.7 and 3.5, never have any problem with them, but come down to resale value

Frontier doesn't have that driving bs on them (Toyota Safety Nonsense). That's a win for me.

I like the power wagon but just do not want full size again. If I did I would seriously look at one

Love it when people compare midsize to full.
I would have bought a Tundra, better reliability.
    Ram ranks last, 29/29
    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2016/10/ram-ranks-last-in-consumer-reports-reliability-survey.html

"In the same survey, Consumer Reports named the Toyota Tundra the most reliable of all pickups, while the Ram 2500 was named the least reliable."
"Consumer Reports said it gathered data on more than half a million vehicles"

Its hard to take Consumer Reports seriously, but I do agree that the Tundra is a reliable Truck!
