OVTune would help and their turbo kit was just dropped. I don’t think it can be purchased yet though. I’ve heard so many bad things about the little dmax. But do what makes you happy man that’s ultimately what matters

Get a full size truck, I'd avoid GM though

I never said that. But I certainly don't feel the truck is dying back that as described.

Neighbor has a beautiful Silver GM truck, bought new last year and already he had to have the transmission changed out. Not sure if this is a isolated problem, but would of really pissed me off. He still has the truck but I would of traded it in right after they fixed it

My folks pulled a 28 or 32 foot Airstream all over the hills of Kentucky and Tennessee without a problem.

His truck is a 2009...Toyota may have fucked them up since then.

My oldest son has had his issues with a couple of Ford F250's and now a Dodge 2500 (less issues than the F250's...so far).
My brother-in-law by passed all issues and bought a F550. That sucker will pull just about anything! :benchpress:

Everyone knows if your gonna pull something larger than a small utility trailer you need one of these.

Next door neighbor had a Colorado Duramax a couple years ago and had to get rid of it because it wouldn't start on cold mornings. It was a well known issue at the time, but I'm not sure if they've fixed it. When it did start, he'd run it like 20 minutes before driving down the road. I can't imagine what kind of fuel mileage he was getting, but it had to be awful.

Can you imagine the downward pressure on his frame everytime he hit a hole in the trail.

Funny because of all the youtube videos of these trucks starting in cold weather without being plugged in. I had a 08’ f450 as my forestry truck in northern alberta canada. Coldest day that truck saw was -42oC and yes I would have to warm it up for at least 15 mins minimum. Thats just diesel. I get about -20oC in winter here but I would be plugged in just to make things easier on the truck. Like I said before Im not hating my tacoma, but man i wish a toyota diesel like the duramax was available. I wouldnt blink to buy it.

i didnt even bother reading through this thread simply because I know the reaction you are going to get in a tacoma forum about the new colorado.. Its kinda like being a jeep guy on a tacoma forum :anonymous:

Do yourself a favor and hop on some of the forums mentioned on the first page and read the first hand experiences of others who own the truck youre looking at. I have known a couple people with the new colorado and they love them, BUT i was a long time GM fan and stepped away from them because the quality and longevity just isnt like it used to be (and honestly, should STILL be).

If I were pulling a camper I would certainly be looking at a full size option, likely the Tundra.. Hell, I plan on buying something full size in the next few years just to pull my boat around town (and because the jeep isnt a great in town commuter haha

Good luck, buy what you want and what will make you happy, but do your research first and dont base your decision off of "Ive heard this or I was told that." base it off of first hand experiences from people who currently own or have owned that specific car. itll take time and youll have to resist the urge to get the instant gratification of running out and buying something new, but its worth it in the end.

    Just my two cents

I test drove the Colorado the same day I test drove Tacoma. On the test drive I didn’t really get a feeling of the power train because of heavy traffic. Honestly what turned me off the most was the A1 U.S.DA prime douche bag salesman at Chevrolet. I’m sure the Colorado is fine, but it’s a GM product, and they break...a lot.

I think OP is better off with a full-size truck. Sounds like that is what he needs.
