Just to illustrate, I went to look at trucks a couple of weeks ago and if I were to get pretty much the same thing that I have in a 2012, it would cost me about 12k more + tax and lic with my truck as trade.

My truck is paid off and it has 5,400 miles on it.

I figure the new one would not be worth 12k more + tax and lic and give up my babytruck.

I've been thinking about trading my 07. Every time I think about it I remind myself that it's paid for. I ask myself, would I rather spend available cash on a 2012 or just go ahead and put leather interior and heated seats in my 2007. I'm just about done with all the other mods important to me. I like the cosmetic changes to the 2012 and I should have bought traction control in my 2007. What are the changes to the 2012 that you really like?

To the OP, there are plenty of reasons to buy a 2012 if that's what you want but in my mind the reason shouldn't be because of the mileage or because you need a throwout bearing. Unless it's been abused you should be able to get another 200K miles out of your truck; 51K miles is nothing and a throwout bearing is an easy fix.

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

The throwout bearing itself wasn't the reason. It was the transmission in general. It didn't feel right. My first vehicle was an 88 pickup with 175000 miles on it. Drove it to 220000 miles and it was a beast. Nothing was going out, shifted great, and felt solid.

This one didn't have the same impression. I didn't want my warranty to expire in 9000 miles and have to replace the transmission.

They gave me 23k for my truck, which I feel was decent. I also had them throw in a free bed mat and access to the car wash.

I'm pretty happy with my decision. I'll post up pics when I get a chance.

No more ugly Orange lights in the interior. The blue and white looks great. The stock head unit is much improved. And the auto tranny shifts smooth as butter.

I have wheels and a lift ready to go on as soon as I get my tires. BHLM and retrofit coming as well.
