If you can comfortably afford the Tacoma you want, then it makes no sense to wait. Life's too short, just do it. Trade the Crosstrek and be done with it.

Another option (although slightly less convenient) would be to buy the Tacoma outright, and sell the Crosstrek to Carvana (or some place similar). They usually offer much better trade prices than dealers, and will actually pick up your car and cut you a check on the spot.

Yeah I hadn't heard about it until my wife traded her last Subaru in. Highest dealer offer at the time was $11,500...Carvana offered $15,200 (which was slightly above KBB average), so we went that route.

Get the Tacoma and get a cheaper commuter car with good mpg. Easy peasy

It gets around 25mpg with the lift and tires. Its pretty efficient. But annoying to drive sometimes since I can barely pass people lol

I thought about that too. Like a corolla or something similar. Its still a thought.

Maybe you should buy yourself a Taco and let the GF drive the Crosstrek...? Is it a stick shift Crosstrek?!?!

You’d still have the Tacoma for those days when weather is questionable, and it’s not a bad commuter vehicle if you just want to drive it sometimes. The other days you have the car. Did this for years when I had to drive 50 miles to work.

If you're gonna sell the Crosstrek, sell it privately. I'd never trade my Tacoma in at a dealer. It's worth like $9K. I know the dealer would give me like $6K for it and then turn around and sell it to some poor bastard for $12K. I saw some members said that you should buy an older Tacoma and keep the Crosstrek? Maybe you should do that...?

My truck has been paid off for years, but I could not afford to pay cash for a new car right now. I'm jealous that you paid yours off already!

Keep the new and paid of nice shiny Subaru and a daily driver for winter and whatever.

Get a used beat up 4x4 (3rd Gen 4Runner or 1st Gen Tacoma would be great) that you don’t mind smashing and scratching for wheeling.

Thanks for the suggestions. I feel like I'll enjoy driving the truck more even as a DD. But am considering keeping the subie as a 2nd. If I can force myself to wait a year, I think this would be the best route to go. I could even sell the crosstrek late if I don't think I'm using it enough.

Thanks man. I have thought about that. Getting a trail beater. But I love the newer tacomas and all of their features and think I will end up going that route. Unless my mind changes in the mean time while I'm waiting to decide.....

Good suggestion I'm just not sure I'm sold on older tacos yet. I'll be thinking about it though.
