I had a 2004 DC TRD 4x4 which i traded for an 06 with the same setup. I loved my 04 other than i racked up 150,000 miles on it in no time, and had 3 years left to pay on it. So i traded it for the 06 with 45,000 on it and started fresh with 5 years to pay. My payment went up but you can always expect that. So i got a newer truck, two more years to pay and 100,000 miles less. It is hard to explain but the two trucks are completely different. I feel the 04 was indeed made better, easier to drive, and got better mileage. The 06 is a lot bigger, has more power and overall I think better looking. You just need to decide what is important and go from there. If anyone of you have any questions i would be glad to help since i have had both

Ive thought about trading my 1st gen in for a 2nd gen whenever i get er paid off(around summer 2011). But shes been pretty good to me, even though im not always good to her lol. Who knows i might keep it, i only started thinkin of doin it because the dealer offered me 17000$ for it on a trade in. I just dont know if id want a 2nd gen double cab or a 2nd gen extra cab.

Why would you think of such a thing!? I had a 2nd gen, and I want a 1st gen so bad now! IMHO they are made alot better! My dad use to have a 98 and it was a beast. I still love the 2nd gen's, but you cant get the old Toyota quality like you use to..

Oh and keep the 1st gen. The newer ones are have alot more problems the the older ones from what I can tell. And you cant rev up the engine from the motor on the 2nd gen and that is no fun..
