Trade in my 2017 OR for 2021 OR Premium

Posting this for someone to talk me off the ledge! :frusty:

My ECP warranty was almost up on my 2017 OR so I scheduled it for a 160-point inspection after seeing some oil around the PS pump. Turns out it's the timing cover leaking...Not ideal but thankfully it's covered under warranty.

As I was at the dealership I saw a 2021 OR Premium in Army Green that caught my eye (the green ones always do!) I've done a bit of digging online and took it for a test drive to see if I could notice any major differences beyond the Pre-Collision System and Car Play. Overall, pretty similar, as anticipated, but I did notice the brakes felt a lot more responsive and it felt like it had a little more oompf to it (less gear hunting).

    A few details:
    - My '17 is at 119,XXX KM (warranty is up at 120K KM)
    - I bought it at the 110,XXX KM and it's been pretty solid
    - I am thankful for the previous owner buying the ECP because I've had 2 wheel bearings replaced (as soon as I bought it) and now the timing cover leak
    - '21 has roughly 80,000 KM
    - I'm anticipating the delta between what the dealership is going to offer me and the '21 to be around $5-10K, including taxes

So my question to you folks who have made the jump from '16/17 to '20-23, or anyone else. Was/is it worth it?! Any other insight is greatly appreciated.

Is it paid for? My 17’s paid for and I plan on driving it until it’s unrepairable and probably until the wheels fall off.:D

It is paid for and that was my plan too but the army green . Also a little skeptical after reading through some forums and hearing about folks having to fix the timing cover more than once on the 16/17's.

I would probably get it fixed and go from there. You never know, it may never leak again. And your not out a payment plan . Unless you have money to waste and burning a hole in your pocket . Definitely get a newer truck . :annoyed::spending:

Hahah I wish! Some wishful thinking here and just wanted to see if anyone had any input who's made the switch to try and justify it to myself. Ultimately it depends on what the dealership is willing to offer me for mine and if the numbers make sense. Partially thinking about resale value as well as I tend to have my vehicles anywhere from 2-4 years typically

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Get the new one. Fk it. Get off the couch. It’s the stop that kills you and you ain’t stopping.

I'd try to find a new 23 if you really want to upgrade.

You didn’t mention the trade-in value, my stupid dealer keeps sending me offers and now they’re down to $19k for my 2017. They don’t realize I’ve only driven it for 60,000 miles, so it’s worth more, but I don’t have any car payments for it, and I wouldn’t trade it to start those all over again. With today’s interest rates I’d be paying over $15,000 for their new truck, that’s stupid crazy. Think of all the stuff you can do with $15,000!
