Thinking about trading in my 2017 Tacoma Pro. It has 17200 miles on it and is basically new looking. A dealer offered me 36k on trade. Does that seem good? I've never had a vehicle nice enough to trade and get more than 2k so that seems good.

What did you pay out the door? And any mods done to it?

It would depend on how much off you get on the new vehicle you are buying as to wether it’s s good deal

    It depends.
    1. How much did you pay for it?
    2. How much money did you spend on mods (if any)?
    3. How much would you be paying for the new vehicle and what vehicle is it?

Mods will only increase value if you sell to a private party. Dealer won’t allow much if anything toward mods. Did you check the value with Kelly Blue book or other sources to get the value?

    Yeah.
I have a personal rule to not pay more than $500 over dealer invoice. You can sometimes do better, but you should never do worse. It's a fair deal for both parties. If you can get a deal like that, what they are offering seems decent.

Yank the diamondback and try to find someone to swap wheels with. You'll get way more private party for those and they should move quick. You won't get shit for them from the dealer.

You can sell the OV Tune as well, buyer just has to pay Matt for the new license.

I don’t really care if people get mad or not but I post this in every thread that asks for financial advise.

Only you know what you can or can not afford. The numbers are irrelevant because what is too much to some is pennies to others. If you have to question the money then you can not afford to do it. When you go to McDonald’s do you buy off the menu based on price or just what you want? That goes for everything. Buy what you want but don’t ask others if it’s a good deal or not. Some will say that just the mere fact that your trading in a truck at a loss is a bad decision, asking if your getting raped with lube or not is something only you know if you can handle.

I never trade in vehicles. You get low or mid wholesale and they sell it for high retail.

You can sell a vehicle. Trust me.
