I do admit that I like the aesthetics of the traditional pickup, but isn't it a bit dated? Manufacturers could easily make an aerodynamic pickup with better fuel economy, but it seems the American public is set on old school, big boxy, air turbulizers.

Different marketing demographics. EV trucks are currently aimed at the hip early adopter non-truck people. I think what sets this demographic apart from real truck people is that they are more interested in being "different" than owning a truck for practical purposes or because they like truck culture.

We'll start seeing EV trucks look more 'normal' once the buzz wears off.

I’ve definitely thought about a commuter like a Bolt but the camera gear wouldn’t fit plus I’m running out of room in the garage and driveway. All good.

"EV truck" seems like an oxymoron with the current tech available. Trucks are marketed as "go anywhere, do anything" utilitarian tools but EVs right now don't have the range, infrastructure and frankly the price point to be consistent with that marketing angle.

I operate a steadicam for Television shows. LIVE TV, award shows, game shows, etc. A bunch of Pelican 1650’s, stand, cart, sandbags. I’m sure it would fit, I just wouldn’t be able to see out ofthe windows.

Especially for a giant battery that would go in a big pickup. I could see that really adding a lot of cost over time.

Of course it makes sense. It’s the easiest solution. I was asking everyone’s opinion and apparently you didn’t read all the posts. I have gear to haul. That’s why I have a truck. I wonder what the average age of members are here? It’s crazy the differences between certain forums and how the responses are.

I love my truck, I use it as a truck. I haul lumber when doing projects at home. I need it. Just wondered what people thought of the coming EV’s. Would they trade their Tacoma in? Then things get twisted around. Happy Friday.

So why even have a Tacoma? Clearly you’re looking to double or triple your fuel economy and you can put your camera gear in anything so why even bother with a truck.

I am waiting for an electric or hybrid truck! Previously owned a prius and 1st gen taco, traded em in for what I thought would be a great compromise for a 2018 hybrid rav4. Unfortunately, once I began to use it I realized a truck is a truck fro a reason. The rav was amazing but not very much room, even less with the battery in the back, also it was so nice I never wanted to "mess it up", Couldn't fit lumber, etc. So I went back to the tacoma until someone comes out with an electric option. just thought i'd share

I'm all for that. But they don't have to look so weird. But I guess that's subjective

At least Nissan's EV looks "normal"....if a bit Ranger looking.

If the Badger comes in under $80K, I'm pretty sure I'll pick one up. There's been the rumors that Tundra will be going EV or at least hybrid, so I would love to see what that is (if there's any chance) before deciding, but I would love for an electric truck that could tow 6k-8k, get 500+ range, and seat 4 adults and doesn't look like a space vehicle. The early Rivian models looked good but now it looks like a larger Ridgeline.

The new Tundra will have a TT V6 and a TT V6/hybrid option. I'm hearing 600 lbs ft of torque
