Does that Rivan come as pictured with lift kit, tires and rock slider if not then this makes it more expensive to mod it. Just saying, she is a beauty though.

Ford could produce an electric new Bronco 2dr pick up truck with a 6' bed. I wouldn't mind driving an E truck that looked like a Bronco was 4wd had good ground clearance and a nice size AT tire. I'd really like an EV that could retain mechanically operated doors and tailgate. No reason the truck of the future can't still feel like a truck. Ford could also build hybrid and ice versions for people who don't want an EV.

Personally I think the charging network arguments are a bit overblown, not saying it couldn’t be better, just that for the average person it’s probably not as much of a problem as it’s made to be.

If you think about it, charging at home (or work) means you very rarely ever have to stop to “refill” for day to day driving. About the only time you have to stop is when road tripping. For the average person this means LESS time per year at the “filling” station. Instead of stopping every week for 5-10 you stop two to three times a year for 40-60.
Granted, that’s “average” driver. Many folks travel more and it certainly doesn’t cover those that tow regularly (which electrics are still a LONG way away for)

People recharge their EV at work? I don't know if many employers or jobsites are going to give electricity away for free.

I couldn't even get free gas when I worked at a gas station, but that was one of the ways they generated income.

I could see Tesla or an EV manufacturer, a utility company, Amazon or maybe even Starbucks offering free electricity to their employees.

I can't imagine a mom & pop operation, or any company that actually has to produce something to generate revenue handing out free electricity. They might deduct it from your pay and offer it at a reduced rate.

I don't see it happening at a construction site, there isn't usually much electricity around on a new building site. There usually isn't even a place to park.

Most EVs use between .25-.5kwh of power per mile driven. At the average business electricity rate in the US ($0.116/kwh) and the average US commute (16 miles), that's under a dollar per vehicle per day.

I’m not sure what your focus on a construction site is, unless that’s your personal experience or you think the only people that buy trucks work in construction.
Many businesses will give free charging power to customers now. The most common are hotels, since having the chargers attracts customers with EVs, but you’ll also find them at places like the Tillamook Cheese Factory (which isn’t in the Bay Area) since the customers tend to spend more time/money because they are getting a free charge. It doesn’t hurt that the EV charging spots are also in the very front.

Maybe if you bring your own extension cords, and if you can get close enough to the building. There are still a limited number of electrical outlets. People usually bring their own coffee mug to the office, and I don't think they usually charge you for each cup of coffee you pour. People also often charge their phone at work, and I have never heard an employer complain of that.

There usually are not many amenities at a construction site when the majority of workers are there. Seemed like the most difficult place one is likely to find a charge for their EV.

It would definitely involve a little bit of infrastructure build up in parking lots but that's not difficult. Back up in Alaska we had a 4x4 post with 4 plugs spaced out every other parking spot across every lot. This means that you always have a plug in for your block/battery/oil heaters in the winter and would translate easily to an EV charging scenario in warmer climates.

i don’t really understand what you are whining on about here. This is done, companies are doing it. They are doing it today. Some mom and pop shops will, some won’t. Some construction shops will, some won’t. Other businesses like Trimble, Honda, GM, Wells Fargo, may or may not offer it at some, or all, or no locations depending on if they feel the cost of doing so is worth it as a “perk” to maintain employees.

I watched somebody's Volvo get towed from a garage because they had been told not to steal electricity from the outlet in the garage by the land lord. This wasn't a charging station, just a 110v wall outlet in the garage.

Although it's not my problem, I wouldn't want any one to drive an EV to work under the assumption there is free electricity there for them to charge their EV.

Besides, you can't use the excuse that you had to stop and fill up your tank, if you are late to work.

It's an even better excuse. "My battery died and you know how much longer that takes to recharge compared to getting a gas can filled."
