    Hey Guys,

I don’t know if I’m going crazy or not, but with these god damn used market prices, I’ve been wanting to either sell my Tacoma or trade it in. The options that been floating around my mind is, trade it in for a WRX Sti or a Lexus IS-F.

I’ve been going crazy these past couple of days thinking about this. What’s your guys input?

Do you want to clench your butthole every time you run over an ant ? Or do you want to be seen as a poor contractor. The choice is yours

In all seriousness. Those two choices also couldn’t be more different. Manual really stiff riding eco sedan/hatch, vs luxo barge automatic with a mustang motor

Yeah true, but do you think in your opinion, a Tacoma trading in for either a STI or IS-F is a good or bad trade off on my end

Depends. You will lose out on ease of maintenance… some fuel costs, as both will require premium + even get slightly worse average.
You will gain a lot of performance/braking/acceleration. Depends if that’s what you.
Sti is a cool car but the powerband is basically an on and off switch from 3500 rpm to 6000. And basically dead below. the motors blow up past 75k miles. And most are abused by the vape crowd so I’d never get one used.

the isf will be a future classic, if you can maintain it using oem parts it will be a great car but certainly not supremely cheap to own.

drive both to see which one suits your personality more.
I can tell you I came from high end sports cars (f80 m3) and I really enjoy the taco for what it is, and I prefer driving it far.

I would probably get a new 86 if I were you. It’ll likely almost be a wash and maintain the reliability and cost and add lots of fun.

If you're unhappy with the Tacoma, by all means sell it.

If you think trading it in will make you happier, it never does for long. I tend to make that decision based on how well my current vehicle is meeting my basic needs.

All vehicles are more expensive in this market, even the most crappy beater vehicles, even salvage cars are getting unprecedented attention, so even though you're making out like a bandit by selling your Tacoma, buying that luxury sport sedan is going to hurt like never before. Tacomas in particular seem to up even more than everything, maybe 35% compared to 25 or 30% for everything else (rough figures there), so you will still see a small net appreciation effect for what its worth.

I understand where you’re coming from. That’s crazy you have an F80 M3. Tbh I love my Tacoma, but been talking with a lot of people, these prices are just crazy. Tempting, that’s why I’ve been looking in to trade it in, but nothings up to standards of my Tacoma or my requirements.

Trade it then. If I didn’t live in UT where we get a decent amount of snow my daily driver would be a mustang 5.0

Ahah yeah man, this pandemic really made a lot of shit jump up in pricing. Like I never seen a damn salvage car go for 30k until this year

The ONLY acceptable trade-ups would be a ‘22 Taco or Twin Turbo Tundra.

When I started driving, it was a given to never give a Caddy a break; today it is the Lexi.

It’s your call - sit tall or be dissed.

If there was ever a good time to sell or trade your truck its now. The problem is it's not necessarily the best time to buy another vehicle. But like @Chugiak76 said, if you're unhappy with it sell it. Life's too short to be unhappy!

To be honest, I’d stick with the current gen Tundras man. No matter how much better the new Tundras are, I told myself, if I get a full size truck it has to come with a V8

It’s not that I’m unhappy, it’s that, I’ve practically done enough to make the truck look decently nice. Not the best out there but it’s decent. I feel like I can do so much more with another car.

Yeah I’ll most likely trade this truck in if the right deal comes up. It’s always the first car that’s gonna hurt a little

38 gallon gas tank and California fuel prices … you will be licking close to $200 a fuel up… keep that in mind
