My car gets far worse mileage than the truck. I start it and can smell the dollar signs from the fuel burning

Should fix whatever mechanical problems it has. What kind of car gets worse mileage than a Tacoma?

Earlier this year I, traded my Tacoma for a Civic Type R. Driving the Civic Type R was an absolute blast! I enjoyed it more than I can describe!

It didn’t take long for me to get annoyed with the oversized 20 inch wheels—potholes, nicks to the wheels, a nail stuck in the super sticky tires, and rocks constantly accumulating in the enormous disk brakes/rotors, etc. I washed it 2-3 times per week just to keep in clean and look acceptable at car meet ups. I couldn’t shake the constant thought of watching where I parked, roads I traveled and continually look over my shoulder for dents/dings/scrapes. My two kids also kept me working to keep the interior clean. Even more, I began to miss having a truck. There’s no replacement for a truck in terms of towing/hauling odds and ends, tailgating, etc.

Because the market was, and still is super hot, I was able to trade in the Civic Type R after only owing it for three months and got thousands more than I purchased it for.

My advice—do what you feel. Life is short, so take the time and live in a way that’s enjoyable to you. The market is on fire! If you want to come back and get another Tacoma later, you’ll certainly be able to trade in a WRX or F-Series and not suffer much at all, if any.

Good time to sell if you want to get out of a payment or downsize. Bad time if you want to buy something else, especially something in the enthusiast market place.

Agree. I bought my Tacoma DCLB TRD Sport new on 12/28/19. Paid 37k and change out the door and after this month have just over $450 left on the loan. Last night got something offering me 35k and change for my truck. That’s 2k less than I paid for it and I have almost 33k miles on it. I thought about it for maybe 15 seconds before thinking e’f that!

I realized if I got rid of my truck (and it’s a nice truck), I would obviously have to go out and buy something else. I am not the type that needs a new shiny toy every couple years. I sort of like going 10 or 12 years without having to make a car payment. So for me …. “No Deal!”

Only reason I opted for a new truck, used prices were almost the same amount and I had no problem waiting for one. Figure if I keep it 3 or 4 years even if the market cools I should make out ok if I sell it since Tacomas tend to hold their value. I keep tossing around the idea of selling my 996 911, its a cab so not as desirable but I only paid 18 for it 3.5 years ago and I think I can get 25-30k out of it. Problem is I know I will get the itch for something else soon after selling it. Keep telling myself I will sell it if we need it for a down payment or something.

A trade is 99.4% of the time a losing deal for the owner and a win for the dealer.

If it wasn't, dealers wouldn't do trades.

Like others have said, life is too short to spend time driving a car that doesn't make you happy if you have the ability. We love our Tacoma, but also appreciate the others. The IS-F is a great car, but the one thing I know about them is that the backseat is virtually useless. Still, my opinion is take the IS-F over the STI. Personal recommendation is to find a nice S4 (B8 or B8.5 or B9), or maybe even a B8 RS4, but that is a whole different world in maintenance vs. the others. Good luck in your decision!

Trucks seem to be more in demand than sports cars, that said you'd likely get more for your truck going for the IS-F just with the price difference in the 2 cars.

Going dark side like @macgyver, I agree with the full size V8.

Looking on the Nova forums most guys getting 15-17 mpg. That's more than most Tacomas. Something must be wrong with your Nova.

I had a ‘72 SS Nova 350 worked - Muncie 4 Speed. Fasted car I ever had (possible been in) and had a few - including Vettes. If I grandma drove it and didn’t beat it, I got 21 MPG. Of course I did not build it to be a Sunday go to church car, so that really ever happened.

On the other hand, currently have a ‘69 Camaro 427 big block. Yeah, it guzzles gasoline.

Lol, yeah must be something wrong...…..
Nice! Yeah, I have a 4 speed Muncie. Im itching to put in a 6 speed and LS. The 350 I have is just too slow, and the Muncie isn't ideal. Okay, you def win with the 69 and 427. That's dream car stuff there

I had a 94 firebird formula with an Lt1 350 and T56 6 speed. That thing got 25 mpg. Light car, big engine. Just because a car has a huge engine, doesn't equal poor mpg.

I am actually trading mine in tonight (for another Taco). I have a 2020 2wd, 4cyl Access Cab with 26K miles on it, and dealership put it as $25K for the trade in.
    Getting myself a 2019 4 door 6cyl 4wd with 22K miles on it.

It’s called a heavy foot and carbureted and built 350.. I don’t track my mileage because I don’t care. I just make a reasonable assumption based on the mentioned info and driving habits that my truck does better.
