Yeah you will get hosed on a trade. Have you thought about selling yours first so you can get what it's worth?

You only live once. But you have to keep a level head also. I have learned that when buying a vehicle, always get what you want. I have settled in the past but I had wanted a 4x4 Tacoma for a long time and before I got my last truck, this one is what I really wanted and love it. I know I don't use the 4x4 enough to justify it, but I love knowing it's there when I need it. Good luck!

personally as everyone said, you will get screwed on your trade in. I too really want a 4x4, but truly, I don't rock crawl or do any off roading. I have been debating if I should trade my truck in and buy a new 4x4. At the end of the day, I really don't feel it is worth my money to upgrade at the moment. I would rather have the extra cash in my pocket for other things. Good luck!

Honestly brotha, if you trade-up without her "approval" even though it's "your" money (now) she may start questioning where your priorities are in your marriage. But... you know your finances/circumstances better than anyone. Good luck.

Be careful whatever you do. If you got taken by a dealership that much in the first place I'd take someone with you that can snap you out of the trance that the salesman gets you into.

I love going to dealerships and test driving cars. I'm also very good at walking away. No single dealership has something I can't get somewhere else or a week from now. If the salesmen ever tries to tell you that, you better be buying a mint condition all-original 1969 Chevy Camaro SS with a naked playboy model in the front seat. Otherwise, tell them to shove it and get out of there.

^^^^ this. live below your means for a easier less stressfull life.

personally not to come across as insulting or anything, but if you choose a truck over a house you are an idiot. Have patience! you don't need EVERYTHING right now. you still have a nice truck... now go get a decent house and when you can afford it THEN upgrade the truck.

On the other hand if she doesn't want you to be happy and have what you want then where are you? I was married once before and everything was about her, her and her. She didn't give a rats a$$ about what I wanted. I have a good woman now, when I traded for my Yota she told me it was up to me and if it was what I wanted then go for it. But of course she had just gotten the new Accord also.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Don't do anything. Keep your truck and save your money. Wait and buy a 2021 model! Maybe they'll have a Diesel / Solar Hybrid with emergency Hampster  drive by then.

I would say save your money. I sold my 07 tacoma and "upgraded" to a 2010 prerunner trd offroad. I wanted a 4wd but i talked myself out of it. i would have had the 07 paid off in 6 months from now...and now I have 5 years to pay on this new taco.

Save your money and you will thank yourself later.

Yea I get that feeling sometimes too, that I should be saving more instead of continuing to improve the truck. Hey, you only live once.

Do you have any equity on your truck? Have you checked to see what they offer you in trade? I traded my 2009 Pre-Runner and did just fine on the trade, I had some cash left over to use as a down payment on my new truck.

Look into it and then see if it is worth it or not for sure.

I traded in an 08 vehicle for my 2010 Taco for YOUR exact (almost) same reason. I am now getting married in under two months, but I have the truck I have always wanted.

I wanted a Standard taco and I settled for an auto ford. I upgraded ;)

    Gl with your decision.

ps. My Fiance said do what makes you happy. She was pretty cool with it tho.

Get what you really want. You are the one paying for it. Who wants to pay for something they don't really want? I know I don't. Once you're married, it's usually a "group" decision on big purchases. Right now, it's your choice and yours alone.

    i'm on the fence.

first, you have a fiance..you are already committed. what you do NOW will affect BOTH of you later. no other way around it. unless you are shitting 100 dollar bills.. crap happens amazingly fast once you get married and start building a life.

second...crap. she is more than likely never going to let you get the 4x4 later once you are married. fact of life. unless you marry a spine-less woman, from some 3rd world country.

i am seriously on the fence. but here is what i would do. i would TALK to her first, sell your truck, and then search the country for a USED truck exactly like the one you want..DO NOT START the car payment clock over again from the beginnning...DO NOT.
