Tundra is great but I do miss storage. I could add under seat storage but do not want to lose flat floor space. I managed to locate all my stuff under seats and console is huge. If Toyota just made the back seat back so that it would release and fold forward there would be more usable space behind seat. I would like to have factory locker and power inverter too just in case I need them. Ride is not even comparable to the Tacoma. After 13 years in mid size trucks I thought adjusting to full size would take time but it did not.

Has your pro been a good truck for 49k miles?
What will you replace it with and why?
I think they should have kept the cement for the pros cause it doesn't look as good with the chrome accents and it's a bit of a slap for those who paid a premium for the color only to be exclusive for one year.

I would keep what you have IMO.
Trading a new vehicle for another new vehicle is almost always going to end up taking a loss even on a Tacoma.
$32k sounds good for trade in though. Dealerships around my neck of the woods low ball worse than that.
A coworker got quoted $28k for his 2017 TRD off road 4x4 with 14k miles and he said kbb had the trade value at $32,186 in very good condition. He ended up walking away.
He wanted a 4Runner but no way he was going to accept their ridiculous offer for his trade and they tried to nitpick every little imperfection on his truck and say it was only in “fair condition”. Car dealerships are crooks. The market is starting to get saturated with 2016-2017 model tacomas in my area though.

If you must sell this truck, sell it privately on cars.com or craigslist to get top dollar. Never trade a brand new truck at the dealership if you want top dollar for it.

I went to the dealership and created the thread to accomplish to goals. A) Test drive the manual to see if I liked it better than my auto B) Get perspective from fellow members who have traded a 'lightly used' Tacoma in on a new Tacoma as to how much of a hit they took on the trade.

If I decide to trade it in, I know it will be at a financial lose. Of that I have no illusions, and I do appreciate all the perspectives and opinions that have been shared so far. :hattip:

Are you able to locate any leftover 2017 Tundra Pros? Isn't the Tundra Pro getting skipped for MY2018?

I got my truck for $34,100 before taxes and fees. I was offered $34,000 on trade in for my almost base TRD OFF-ROAD. I had 8K miles at the time of appraisal.
So yea $32k is alittle low.

Yea I paid $35.5k before taxes/fees for a well spec'd truck. Maybe not the best but decent.

I couldn't swallow paying $36+k before taxes and fees for a much less equipped manual. On top of only $32k trade for mine.

I'm sure I could have negotiated for better. But at that point I was pissed and felt it was better to just walk away.

Trade-in seems fair, they will likely list it for $36k, they do after all have to make a profit. So someone will pay $35k and they make a couple grand for the hassle of selling it for you.

The sale of the other truck is pretty lame though, should get a better price on that.

Always better to walk away and come back later with a clear head. When you get pissed emotions come into play and it could cost you.
I’m sure the dealer will contact you to try to get you back in. If you really want the new truck lay your cards on the table and let them know exactly what you're looking for.

You looking at the inventory on the Toyota website? Not sure I would trust it to be accurate. I also wanted a Tundra Pro in white but once the news came out about no Pros for 2018 the dealers around here were sticking to MSRP. I could stomach a $3-$4k difference between Pro and other models but not $7k+. I just bought a SR5 and turned it in to my own Pro. Truck came with BFG KO2s which I prefer to Michelin. Only drawback is 20" rims.

Defiantly get quotes from several different dealers. Some advertise they will pay 120% of KBB fair trade in value but I don’t know how true they are to that. A lot of dealers accept the KBB instant cash offer. Have you done that and see what trade in value it generates?

Also don’t mention your trade in until the price of the MT Tacoma has been nailed down. Then tell them you are trading your AT tacoma. When they come back with a low ball offer, tell them Kelley Blue Book Instant cash offer appraises it at $xx,xxx.

I haven't looked into the KBB instant cash offer yet. May do that.

tundra ride is much better for comfort. My 15 crew tundra was nice. I would say that the mid size is still more user friendly in the city and to me lot more pleasurable to drive but you give up comfort. I know on my 40 mile one way commute my Colorado isn't near as comfortable seats as the Tundra and longer trips or longer days in the truck it shows more. pros and cons for sure.

Looks like the OP isn’t getting robbed to bad on his trade in if he is getting clean NADA trade in value for it.
I think his has the premium and tech package though so you should check power moonroof and jbl boxes too.
That bumps the clean trade value up to $33,825 with those options.
    http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2017/Toyota/Tacoma/TRD-Off-Road-Crew-Cab-4WD-V6/Values
It’s strange how the premium and tech package with jbl is a $3,000 option but it only recoups an extra $1,000 on the used market.

Doesn't surprise me, those things are always marked up. Why should a head unit cost twice as much as an ipad mini and have 10% of the functionality.
