I did the math. A Tundra would burn 7-8 more gallons of gas to drive 1000 miles compared to my 07 Tacoma. Your 18 probably is a little better on gas, but not enough to mean more than another 1 gallon for that 1000 mile roadtrip. I also have a F-150 Supercrew, about the same size as a Tundra. Yea, it's bigger. It's also infinitely more comfortable. Especially in the back seat. My Ford burns about 2-3 more gallons of gas to drive 1000 miles than my Tacoma.

When you're comparing something that gets fuel mileage in the mid teens to something in the low 20's the difference isn't that noticeable. Now when I compare the 20 mpg of my trucks to the 40 mpg of my Honda, then you notice.

If the bigger truck fits your life better then you need to go bigger. If not stay with the Tacoma. The only reason I'd not trade is financial. I think it best to keep one at least 5 years or you lose more money than I like. If possible I'd keep the Tacoma a few more years.

That is why I own 2 trucks. Prior to 2007 a Tacoma was simply too small and I had no choice but to drive a full size. In 2007 things changed and I no longer needed a big truck. Today things have changed again and the Tacoma is too small for a lot of what I do. But it was too good to sell. The Tacoma is now a 3rd vehicle for us.
