Anyone looking to trade their AT for a MT? I have a 2016 TRDOR with a MT in Fort Collins Colorado that i'm getting tired of shifting. If you're interested let me know and we can talk specifics.

It's my constant need to change things and never be satisfied lol. I'm still not quite sure I should swap but sometimes in traffic and in the mountains I wish I had an auto.

In the mountains, you want that persnickety Auto trans that can never decide what gear it wants to be in?

I drove up the Sierras in my 6MT and it was a joy. The motor pulled along nicely and I was always in the right gear.

    Suit yourself!

I've driven extensively through CO, UT and other mountain states (including here), and have never had an issue with the transmission.

I have a 2017 TRD OR with AT and might entertain that idea, I'm in Cheyenne.

Its comments like this that make me wonder if we drive the same truck. I live in relatively flat St. Louis and my truck couldn't pick a gear to save its life. I haven't taken it through some serious mountain yet and ,honestly, it could get ugly.

Apparently some people don’t mind the endless shift loop in the mountains, but rest assured it will do it. I don’t know how it doesn’t bother some people but each to their own. Every truck will do it because the truck just doesn’t have torque in higher gears and the programming will force it to upshift when it shouldn’t (e.g. going up a hill). So you can count on it getting in a shift loop where it shifts back and forth 3-4-3-4-3-4, etc. every few seconds. I’ve learned to live with it.
Cruise will definitely help it stay in the lower gear and reduce the shift loop significantly.

Yeah, I've got pretty high elevation passes here (over 9k. Nothing compared to some of the Colorado passes, but still high). Honestly, stuff that my old Tacoma used to have a hard time holding speed. No issues for me. Pedal down and I can pass at will. It's no FI engine, but plenty of power for mountain driving.

I drive in the Sierras, and the auto tranny is such a bitch. Going up hills, it keeps shifting to the highest gear as fast as possible, lugs, down shifts. Repeat 100 times.

ECT button helps a lot though, but yeah....MT > AT in the mountains

Mine will still jump around in manual mode going up hills for some reason so not quite a solution. Hopefully 4.88s are :D
