I think I've gotten one of those 'notices' every year since I've owned my truck.

Even this past year.... My truck is 8 years old. Really?

The next letter I get, I should just hold onto it until I'm ready to buy a 3rd gen. LOL Or wait until the next letter. ;) Bargain some cash off a new one! LOL

What cracks me up even more...is those letters you get about your 'warranty is gonna run out' - here's what you can do to extend it.
Really? My warranty ran out a long time ago!

More than likely you could have sold your Ram, privately, for more than the variance in the tax savings of $1170 ($1770-$600)

My parents just did this with their Lexus. It was a leased 2012 with like 15,000 miles on her. They put $10,000 down in order to get 0% lease rate I think for 5 years. After the 5 years, if they didn't buy the car they got the $10,000 back.

Dealership called and said they wanted it and offered to get them into a 2014 or 2015 (can't remember) for very close to the same payment.

At first, they walked into the dealership and the deal wasn't as attractive as it originally sounded. My father basically said "What's in it for me?" and made a bunch of counter offers.

I think it was things like the interest rate on Lease went up so he wanted it back to 0%. They were going to charge him something like $200 document fees, which he wasn't going to pay. And he also wanted his original $10,000 down payment back now!

The dealership said they couldn't do any of that.... So they walked out.

However, about three days later the dealership called back and said they'll do the deal!

So they ended up taking it. I think the only thing that really changed was their lease payment went up about $50/month or something around that...

I kept getting FACTORY toyota paperwork stating that my warranty was up from my old toyota truck. Granted it was a 93' with 240k on her clock. I called and told them something was wrong with their paperwork lol.

Tacoma DEALS are out there, ALWAYS out there. I have bought LOTS of Toyota/Lexus and there are always DEALS. You need to work for it.

I got my NEW 2012 DCLB TRD Sport V6 2x4 (tow package, compass/temp/backup rearview mirror, HD radio)..just like a normal TRD Sport set up....all for $25,000 EVEN, plus taxes and registration of course. I think this is CHEAP.

    True Story....

My friend went to buy a Jetta this week. The model he was asking about had a 30k MSRP, he offered them "24k or I am walking". They told him no, he went home. Next day they call him back and say they "think we can work something out". He went back in and they still wouldnt budge, he said "you are wasting my fucking time man" (the sales guy was about his age). The sales guy more or less said "man what do you want from me??" and My friend said "I want that fucking car for the price I said, its pretty simple". Long story short my friend started to describe his masturbating habits to the sales guy and the guy was so taken aback and laughing, got the finance guy over, my friend kept cussing and talking about off the wall stuff that they finally caved in and gave him the deal, just to get him out of there. True story. This dude is weird as hell, he wouldnt make this up. Its par for the course for him

slightly off topic, but funny. he told me this yesterday

.. only in CA. I'd probably have had told him to GTFO, and if he continued being a fucking idiot then I'd call John Law for trespassing. Cool story, I guess. Zero chance I'm shaving profit off of anything for a guy who is disrespecting my business and employees with his dumb shit behavior.

I had the same thing. Calling me and leaving messages on my cell phone. So just for shits and giggles I went up there and all they would offer is the trade in value. With all the upgrades I did I just walked out. Didn't expect to get much as my truck is a base model. 2 months later they offered me 2000 over the trade in value, but they had already left me with a bad feeling so I never got back to them. My truck is paid off so really don't want to start payments again. Love this truck. May just upgrade with 2012 front end.

It sounds like you and your friend don't know how the car business really operates. They prey on folks like you.

I knew a guy that did that and came out good so it is just a matter of what the dealer really wants.
