    I never owned a VW car, did have a Dodge Omni with a VW engine that was a POS.

    I had two VW Westfalia's a long time ago, a '67 and a '68. Nice campers. Good ground clearance and with chains on the rear wheels did fine in mud, hill climbing. Great camping setup with the poptop, 30 gallon water tank, sink, folddown table, folddown bed, closet, underbed storage, overhead storage, icebox. The '67 was super sweet, had a westwind aux gas heater that ran off the gas tank, double side doors. Had the 1883cc motor dual port originally, built a 1776cc dual port with aux oil cooler later, sweet machine. Had the side tent also that mounted over the side doors. One of my favorite vehicles I owned.
