Good choice on the new ride. I recently traded my '06 Tacoma in for a Ford also, but went with the F350 Lariat with 6.7 Powerstroke. Although I loved my Tacoma, there is NO comparing the two brands in quality, comfort or performance...that, and I do not have to write thread after thread complaining about not having the option to have a diesel.

I traded my 2009 F350 for a 2013 Tacoma DC LB. The only thing I miss is the height, You could see over everyone. The Tacoma will out run the F350 on speed. Trade in time I will get more for my Tacoma

Congrats on the new truck, OP. Personally, I don't understand all the hate, but I do admit that I'm an F-150 fan. As reliable as the Tacoma is and as great a choice it is for a midsize, it has it's faults, just like any car. My family has had numerous F-series trucks and all have gone past 200,000 miles with hard lives, and no real major repairs beyond 1 transmission (and it was a dedicated tow rig). I've always equated the Tacoma and F-150 as the clear leaders of their segments (midsize and fullsize). Good luck!

Ford has not offered the 7.3 in a Super Duty for a decade. They came out with the 6.7L in the 2011 model year which produces 400hp and 800 lb/ft of tq. The truck is an absolute beast and I have no regrets trading out of the Tacoma. With my '06 starting to have the same rust issues that the Gen1 has had and that the Gen2 trucks are starting to have, Tacoma was not really a long term option for me.

    super cool.

i'd love a new half-ton. more room is great. amazing how i can fill my tacoma up with just me and another hunting partner. i'd also like to tow a TT one day to these far away campsites. loaded down with gear, it would push my limits..

F150 is a great truck. i've been eyeballing the new GMC as well.

The 6.0 gave, and are still giving, many people serious headaches due mainly to the new emissions standards that were imposed on them by the EPA. This was the first generation engine with strict standards, while the previous 7.3 was essentially raw, no serious emissions, just diesel power.

You may be surprised, but I am seeing similar fuel efficiency from the 350 as I was the 4cyl Tacoma, roughly 18mpg @ 70 mph. Sorry but fuel efficiency will not be the deciding factor that gets me back in a Taco. :turtleride::turtleride::turtleride::turtleride::turtleride::turtleride:

Congrats on the new ride. Pics?

I'm one of those peeps with ZERO brand loyalty. I currently own the Tacoma but have owned a Stroker and an F150 over the past 6 to 8 years (and others in the past). As far as capability, it all depends on what you consider capable. My Strokers would out pull a Tacoma or Tundra any day but, in terms of build quality & reliability some of the posters above have it right (IMO) there is NO comparrison. The Toyota wins hands down. And I'm not talking about that JD Powers 90 days from new initial quality bullshit, I'm talking years & miles down the road. I've owned several Fords, 3 Tacomas and several others putting well over 100,000 miles on many of them over the past 13 to 15 years. I've had exactly ZERO problems with any Toyota and problems with every Ford. That being said, depending on my needs, I wouldn't rule a Ford out.

I did just the opposit trading my '12 F150 for a '13 DCSB but not because I didn't like the truck, I did. It was because no one in the family was comfortable driving it because of the size. I miss that great 5.0 v8 :)

Good luck with your new truck! They are fun

We used to drive the F350's out here in Afghanistan before we traded them to the washed-up Police Officers of DynCorp International. Those trucks do not last, and are not mean't for 3rd world countries.

The Toyota Hilux's, LC's and the one Tacoma we have. Literally go everywhere the F350's couldn't.

That is what I have noticed when you watch the world news. They bolt down weapons on Toyota trucks and use them for military vehicles and drive the piss out of them. They keep going and going.
