Just traded in my 2016 Limited got a 2018 sport. Had it about a month so far no issues with transmission. Had nothing but problems with 2016. No dash board rattle see what happens only happens in cold weather.tonneau cover not leaking yet and no hood vibration.had that 2016 at the dealer 14 times.so morale of story is don’t buy a used 2016 tacoma

    Congrats on the new rig.
I’d like to upgrade my 15 but I’m kind of scared to.
Hope the 18 serves you well.

Thankfully my 2016 Limited hasn't given me much ado about anything. I had the tranny a quart low, my diff seal leaked and I had the CPS replaced, other than that fine. If my truck had gone to the shop 14 times I'd buy a new one too.

Hold onto the Gold Mine, you will not regret it. To me it's a downgrade not an upgrade, not bashing it but to me they rushed to get it out and have all sorts of problems. And it still has one of the ugliest front ends out there and it gets worse from 16 to 18.

Congrats on the Sport. You will not get hood vibration because the structure is better supported with the scoop. And they say it's not functional.:D Enjoy it, I am enjoying mine.

Plus you just got rid of all that chrome.

My 16 and 18 have both been good to me. Would buy either of them again.

In terms of styling, I prefer the gen 3 over the gen 2. Although, the retro styling of the gen 2 does bring back a lot of fond memories from 2005.

My 2016 has been completely flawless and zero issues, 25,000 trouble free miles....just traded for the 18 because there were a few features on the 18 I wanted. Kept same color so I could save the cap.

I bought a used 2016...yea it had a few issues. One of them the dealer fixed the rest I did myself. Nothing major though, and most issues were fixed by actually doing all the things on the maintenance schedule

The true moral of the story is, Don't buy the first batch of a car's new redesign. There's always going to be problems when they first come out with a new style/engine that they fix within a couple years

This usually the rule I follow as well. I'm not sure what i was thinking when I bought my 2016. Maybe because it was shiny idk

Yeah, those 11 years from 2nd to 3rd sure wash rushed. Toyota should have waited until 2025 to fully develop the 3rd gen.

Maybe the 3rd Gen was rushed to production a little before it was ready. But Toyota was in a tough spot, they had to get new Tacomas in the pipeline before all the 2nd Gens turned into a pile of rust
