Last week I traded in my 4-door Jeep Rubicon for a 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport...first pick-up I have ever owned.

I loved my jeep for off-roading, but hated it on the highway. I had a 4" lift with 35" tires...it had clearance for days. However, I bought the jeep used, so the 4" lift had already been installed and used. The suspension started falling apart non-stop. I kept replacing parts of the suspension...control arm bushings kept breaking down and broken track bars. This winter my 4wd went out, and my 35" tires were getting worn out. I just got married 5 months ago, so I wanted a new vehicle that my wife could actually drive (I was too scared to let her drive the jeep on the highway). Therefore, the only vehicle I was really interested in was a Tacoma.

I love to hunt, fish, and hike, so I do a lot of driving in the mountains on 2-track dirt roads. The Tacoma will essentially be my new jeep...I don't plan on hauling anything too heavy or pulling trailers. The only thing I'm really worried about right now is clearance. After I save up some money, I will definitely be getting a lift and larger tires. I have not done much research yet, but the OME lift is looking pretty nice (I had an OME lift on a grand cherokee). The most important thing to me is ground clearance, so I would like to install larger tires. Not sure what size tire people are able to run with the OME lift.

I can't wait to start doing some searches on the forum! I'm sure there are some great posts about lifts and tires.

Welcome my man! You made a great choice. There's PLENTY of reading to do on lifts and all the options and what not. Just spend a solid month figuring out what you want, and you'll only need to buy once and cry once!

Congrats on the truck! I've been trying to get my business partner to convert over from the Rubicon as well. One of these days. Welcome along!

congrats ... just said goodbye to my trusty rusty 2003 Wrangler and said hello to a 2016 Taco TRD Sport .... loved my Jeep, but the lack of "utility" was an issue, plus I was ready for a few creature comforts (power windows, anyone?) ... I'll miss those summer topless days though
