That looks like one of those cars that you can just absolutely fall in love with over time, and nobody else will understand why.

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
I wouldn't laugh too hard at the little tercel. way back and I am sure most here won't remember, in 1979 gas was hard to get in this country. after going through her 2nd oil shock my mom bought one from the local dealer, paid for it sight unseen, had to wait one week for it to come in. but i will say after all the Detroit clunkers she had in the past, she never had one problem with this car, or recall. that spring we drove from charlotte to myrtle beach on little less than half a tank, and it so impressed my dad and grandparents, that my dad got his first toyota truck latter that year and my grandfather got one a year later and my grandmother got a cressida. she keeped that car for 10 years!!, and all my dad called it her little GTO. gas tires and oil change
yes it had a one barrel carb. and she got 28-38 mpg. only option was the 5-speed

A 1.5L and 1800 lbs sure does get good MPG's. Its a very solid engine that's easier to tune than a lawn mower :).

I really like old Tercels and Corollas. Wish I could find a super clean one. My brother had one for his first car and I thought it was great. One of these days I want to find a vintage Toyota or a Datsun 510. April fools or not, I still love those little cars.
