hey guys at trade my Tacoma for 2013 RAM 1500 crew cab. Much nicer, bigger, smooth ride, leather etc... better and in almost every way.
It is a shame on Toyota for not have improved this truck at all in 8 years! Hard to believe that a big V8, hemi 4x4 is giving me the same mpg !!!
I am also writing this and hope it that somebody from Toyota may Read this and realize that they need to do much better if they want to stay on top.
    Take care guys !
I'll be around for a little longer because I have a couple more parts for sale from my taco.
    Bed extender and nerf bar.
    Cheers!

The Tundra is the competition for the 1500 crew cab. The tundra also would compete with what youre talking about perfectly. Leather bigger smoother etc and gets about the same MPG..

The Tundra may be more expensive than the 1500.. not sure.

Tacoma's could have a step up in trim level but I don't think they need that to stay successful...

Haha. Find me a ram 1500 forum with the same amount of die hard fans. Then we shall talk about whose holding what for customers.
    Enjoy your new whip.

So your new ram is a commuter ? Don't see your post of using truck needs . Would rather have gotten the hemi 300c.

I agree, the Tacoma and the slightly revised 2014 Tundra are getting far behind the rest of the truck makers when it comes to innovation, technology, and fuel efficiency.
BUT...I would still trust Toyota engine and drive-train reliability over any of the domestics today.

I hope you made some " repair money " profit on the deal. You are going to need it.

Best of luck! You need that too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Hemi is equipped with the eight speed Torqueflite trans yet. Sorry if the dealer lied to you.

    I sold my 96 tacoma to buy a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500.

After 3 years....I traded it for my 2007 tacoma.

    Sure, the Dodge is nice....but...
#1 - I couldn't buy an OEM factory alarm system because the ECU wasn't meant for it.
#2 4X4 light kept coming on. Had it to the dealership 3x before they found and fixed the problem.
#3 Some other dash light came on (can't remember) but I had it in there another 4-5 times before they had to totally dismantle the entire dash to get to a broken wire.

The only really good thing about the Dodge, is it towed my Jeep like A dream but shifted like shit.

Good Luck with it! You might just come back to a Toyota again!

C'mon... Dont attack the guy. Its his money, its his decision.

I have considered this myself. I just plan to hang onto the Taco for a while. I still dont have much faith in Dodge/Ram. If these trucks are holding up down the road, good for him.

Another concern I have is that they say it gets roughly 21 MPG. Thats brand new. How will it do with age? once its sludged up a bit? Who knows how it will do later in life?

Best wishes bud, I hope it works out for you. Keep us posted. Competition is a good thing! For now... I love my taco and I do plan to keep it as long as possible.

Nice truck. You're absoultly right about the taco being outdated. It severly needs a major over hall or atlwast staet putting the new version of the 1gr motor in it.... cheap ass bastards. But I do love my rattle can with its shitty milage and lack of amenities and high price tag.

One of the reasons that toyota holds its value so well is because it doesn't change every 2 years... but I do agree that something new needs to come out soon in the tacoma department.

Taco vs Dodge Ram isnt even a Comparison, might as well compare the Ram to a Prius if we are just going to throw random match-ups like this.

How can you not expect to be attacked... YOU'RE ON A TACOMA FORUM! I cant believe the OP traded for a 1500 ram, Dude i dont know what the dealer told you but Toyota is number 1 in a number of things for a reason, Dodge has the cummins and thats about it. So have fun breaking down :)
