Lol, that’s certainly a reason to have a truck, gotta keep them outside. I’ll post some pictures after I get the windows ceramic tinted all around on Tuesday. Thank you!

Just like my old girlfriends, my ‘85 4x4 PU was best, my 4Runner was good, but my 1st Gen Taco was also better, and it’s been Tacos ever since.

But really, the Taco’s towing capacity won out over a 4Runner’s.

You took a very similar path that I did. I had an '86 4x4 pickup. Then I went '95 4Runner, then a '01 Tacoma and now a 3rd Gen Tacoma.

@Lueda Congrats!. I still have a thing for 4Runners too. Maybe my wife's Venza will be replaced by one some day.

A Tech and Premium Off-road 4Runner is less than a Tech and Premium Tacoma MSRP...

My Lt just snagged one for $37k before TTL.

Has this changed for '19? Back when I was shopping, similarly equipped 4Runners were about $2k more. Not sure about the MSRP, but actual sales price.

Yeah, but I’ve also had some affairs with a ‘68 BMW and ‘79 VW too ;). Those times with the Chevy and Fords were just flings that were not important to me and didn’t last very long. It’s my Toyota’s that have always stuck it out the longest with me and have been the most reliable, just like my ‘63 wife :)

Ok, I do also have a cute little restored ‘68 Honda Trail 90, she’s fun for weekend rides and fits well on my receiver mount if My wife and I ever want to scout a bad road ahead of us with it, or when we want to just putt around and fo sightseeing away from camp.

Maybe, I just know my Tech and Premium TRD OR and Sport Tacomas stickered for $41k or so, I paid $36k for both after negotiating/rebates. Here's a 4Runner TRD OR Premium at my dealer, for $40.5k already dealer discounted to $38.5k, after some negotiating I bet you can get pretty damn close to the same deal, like I said my Lt paid $37k for this same config just Barcelona Red (she wanted a girly color).

Seems most people are getting their TRD OR tacos with premium+tech for 34-36k before TTL. Finance rates and special offers are also better for the Taco. When I looked at 4runner a couple weeks ago (before buying my Taco) interest rate was 4.9% for the 4runner and 1.9 for the Taco.

Regardless, both vehicles are awesome, can't go wrong. I just think Taco is a better value.

I doubt anyone or very few are getting a Tech and Premium 4WD TRD OR for $34k, $36k sure (I did), maybe a tech package w/out premium for $34k. And finance rates are region specific, here in AZ you can only get 2.9% for 60 months or the $1000 cash back not both for TFS. The 4Runner as you mentioned here in AZ doesnt have any promotions besides the usual miltary / college grad. So yes you can score a promotional rate / additional $1000 rebate with the Tacoma. Either way the MSRP on a 4Runner is less than that of a similar Tacoma and can be had within a $1-2k of each other, not that expensive.

Tacoma is updated so you get a little more frills for your money, but if you care about something that you can drive forever with no worries, the 4Runner is the ticket, damn thing is still made in Japan, just sit in one and you'll notice the quality difference, just more solid of a vehicle.

    It was sarcasm.

The drivetrain and build quality of a 4Runner doesn’t compare to any Tacoma model.

The dude that said he went with a Tacoma because it had a revised drivetrain and the 4Runner didn’t is okay with his opinion but not his rationale.

We've had our 5th Gen 4Runner for 9 years now and almost 160K and have had nothing but problems. So far I've had to replace the air filter, spark plugs, brake pads and rotors, and tail light bulbs twice! This thing is falling apart!

Rented a new 4runner sr5 while in Vegas recently and what a dog. The suspension they put on those things is ridiculously soft a squishy. Floated down the road like a 1975 Cadillac. Hit the brake even remotely hard and the front end dives, the back end lurches upwards and the vehicle teeters back and forth until the suspension finally settles . I felt like I should enter it into a Hydraulic low rider bounce competition. Not to mention how top heavy that made it feel going around corners. The chassis and overall platform hasn't changed in years. Not sure what the OR drives like but the SR5 is a complete dinosaur.

That's completely true. The stock suspension sucks for sure. First thing that was replaced when we got ours.
