Read and enjoyed a lot on this forum, but traded the Tacoma on Saturday. Really liked the way the truck looked but could not bring myself to really like the way it performed. May have been spoiled my last truck was an 06 Silverado Vortec Max, which was mostly trouble free for 10 years and 140k miles. Traded for a Ram CC 4x4, hopefully it will serve me as well as the Silverado.
My main gripe with Tacoma was transmission and engine's lack of power, the combo just did not seem suited to each other particularly well.

Neither of those trucks you posted about is even in the same class as the mid-side Tacoma. Colorado, Ridgeline, etc would be more suited for comparison. Not really fair to compare a V6 in a mid size (with the power band higher up) than a V8 fullsize that naturally has low-end torque...

I'll never understand the need to make a thread about trading in the truck for something else. Just move on and enjoy your new vehicle.

Meh. Some folks need to make an exit as much as they need to make an entrance.

Because it's the same people who get the extended warranty for $2000 more and then complain when their vehicle isn't perfect and they use the warranty. Then, 4 years before the warranty is up, they trade the vehicle because it's "not reliable," based on a gut feeling, not proof.

I'm not saying that's the OP. I'm saying that's the kind of person who makes these kind of threads. They have to let people know what they did. Gotta get that last poke in there.

Meanwhile I'm enjoying my POS Turd Gen. It's a fun truck to drive. Enjoy the RAM, I think they are good looking, powerful, terribly built machines.

Don't buy small vehicles with small motors if you dislike "lack of power".

I always find these threads interesting. I came from an F-250 and I don't see the transmission and performance problems of the Tacomas..maybe I just had a realistic expectation given that a smaller truck with a smaller engine would be less powerful.

The OP has complaints of a Tacoma but then trades for a RAM, the most unreliable truck for the past decade or so.

Hell, I've had two Corvettes and I don't notice performance issues with the truck. Exactly like you mentioned, it's about expectations. I never expected a midsize truck with a small engine geared towards efficiency to be a Ferrari.

Yea make no mistake, my Silverado had a lot smoother feel and more power. I wanted a smaller truck, I knew what I was getting.

I'll come off my soap box now. Honestly OP, enjoy the new truck. I genuinely hope you enjoy it in a way the 3rd Gen left you wanting. We should all enjoy what we drive.

So you liked that your Silverado was trouble-free for 10 years, missed having that in your Tacoma, so you traded for a Ram?

We have a "New Members" thread where members post pics of the Tacos. Maybe we should have a "Traders/Ex-pats" thread where members can post pics of their trade-ins :notsure:

    Agreed

Too much haters and whiners on the turd gen forum, compared to the rest of the site
