I know this is probably going to start a shit storm (not my intention), however I would like to get a few informed opinions on the 2016 or 2017 Titan XD Pro4X diesel.

I'm at the point to where I am done with my 2016 DCLB TRDOR over the shitty transmission gear hunting issue. The rest of the truck is decent; interior, handling, and looks are all good.

Anyways, I would like to get some informed opinions on the Titan. I have read a ton of reviews, which all for the most part give it high marks. There is a considerable size braintrust here on TW that can provide unbiased information different from paid sources who do professional reviews.

The reason why I am considering the Titan is because I had a 2014 Chevy Silverado and that thing was a turd. Worse was the customer service, I won't touch another GM product. I had a 2012 F-150 Ecoboost and that thing sucked too. My only other options are Ram or Nissan.

***Edit*** Seeing this is my 4th Tacoma, I'll likely be back in another Tacoma in a few years when they work out the bugs or change the motor/trans.

You totally missed out. They had an 11k off and then I think went to 14 or 15k off them. I remember we were blowing them out at work but it was all manufacture discount

It's still going on until 05 DEC.

I can get $12k off - Pro4X with all the packages for $43k. Sounds like a good deal.

What do you know about the Titan based on what you've seen at the Nissan dealership? Reliability, problems, recalls etc.

Bummer buddy. Should have bought a Manual transmission. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Where i live ive seen em for high $50s low $60s with like $10 to $15 thousand off at the dealership , at that pace when you trade it in 3 years should still be worth couple grand!

The guy in the office across the way bought one, an all black murdered out one, they do look sharp in person and you can't beat the 5yr/100k mile bumper to bumper warranty.

I remember one guys telling me they only sold 3 or 4 and they all have been back with issues except one which I believe was an XD platinum or whatever. One of them I believe they said kept coming back with a bad vibration issue but I'm not sure. We have 3 Nissan stores and this is the smallest one and doesn't do much volume at all. I'll have to ask the head tech next time I'm working over in that shop

I don't now much about the Titans Diesels. All I know is, on my 2800 mile road trip in the PRO, I was doing 75mph on the highway.

I got PASSED by a NEW Titan, with two motorcycles on the back of it. He was doing 85 mph UPHILL, like I was standing still.

Now I know how small penis Prius drivers feel.

Plenty of people have dumped their turd gen. Some went 2nd gen. Some went F150, Colorado/Canyon, and some went full size Chevy.

Your money, do what makes you happy. Post pics when you get the new truck.

Have you tried the newly updated transmission update?

With all that money being put on the hood of those titans, that hurts resale value. I don't care for the look of the titans....considered a tundra?

I had the TSB done, but the erratic upshifting still drives me crazy. I had not thought about how rebates crush resale. Thanks for the insight.

But when you buy something for $12k off
Then when you go to resale shouldn't that be taken into account

No truck can touch resale of Tacoma

That said I would look at lease residuals on titans to see what the projected resale is in 3 years

% of loss after 3 years is better indicator

The Silverado had systemic problems and GM (corporate and dealer) would not own up to it. They kept saying "it operated as designed", which was code for, they don't have a clue.

F150, Ecoboost, I didn't like the engine. The V8 5.0 might be a lot better. But I am looking to try something different.
