Hey everyone. I was at the dealership today, made the salesman sweat bullets, and agreed on an offer. After a couple hours, they agreed to take my 2013 with 125,000km for $25,000 CDN and sell me a 2016 with 4km on it for $37,000 CDN. It's still subject to financing, but I ended up getting the monthly payments less than my 2013, and I ended up with $6000 equity toward the new truck. Only depreciated $4500 over 3 years and 125k km lol. Good old Toyotas. Mine is a '13 Black Access V6 SR5, the new one is a '16 Black Access V6 SR5.

Just curious on your opinion of the 3rd gens. I was super dissapointed with the transmission acting like a baby giraffe, not knowing how to walk properly, but after even 20km it started learning my driving and shifted way smoother. I have the weekend to think about the offer. I like the 6 speed transmission, I do a lot of highway driving, and it runs a few hundred RPM less than mine which adds up. Supposedly better fuel economy with the 3.5 and 6 speed with the new Mercedes combustion technology. My 2nd gen has never had one hiccup or problem in the 3 years, I am a little nervous about a brand new gen truck, but I do love the new body, the new responsive touchscreen dash, and the screen in the gauge cluster. Reliability is important to me; and I'm not sure if the '16s are just as rock solid.

Should I keep the '13 or pull the trigger on the '16? Thoughts?

the new tacoma has D4-s injection technology. It is derived from Lexus not Mercedes.

If you like the New one then get it.... the 3.5l is a very reliable engine that came from Prius design.... that being said this truck is unproven and was built from the ground up so there will be kinks here and there..... I would recommend a good warranty if you can get them to extend one to you at cost (dont settle for paying full pop on extended warranties. also make sure its the Toyota one that is 7 year 100k miles.

I was told Mercedes came out with it first, and yes Lexus uses it as well.
