Skimming over these replies, I see it's become yet another auto vs manual argument... To each their own.

You probably won't get hosed, just shop around. Two weeks ago, I traded from a '17 OR MT to a '21 Sport MT. I got what I should've gotten the first time around, the long bed.

The dealer had a $1500 discount off of MSRP on top of the $1000 Toyota rebate. No markup.

On top of the high values in the used market right now, it may just work out for you.

Emphasis on "shop around", though. I drove from SoCal to AZ to get the truck I was looking for.

    Check build thread!
I love the new mustangs, just because Ford listened to both sides, gave us an awesome 6 speed manual for those who wanna have fun, and a lightning quick shifting 10 speed for the hardcore track/drag guys.

But when a used costs more than a new, why do you buy used? Lol

Exactly, used Tacoma's rarely make sense because they hold their value so well, late model used ones are usually within a couple grand of new.

If you look around good deals can be had, but up here in Colorado it isn't just tacomas. When I was looking in December, the Frontiers were surprisingly expensive compared to new. In fact, the difference between the two used wasn't that much.

What actually does depreciate vehicle wise in Colorado? When I moved from the northeast to the south I noticed Subaru’s were slightly less expensive (but still held value unsurprisingly well), and dealers actuall offered discounts on new Tacoma’s , but used Mustangs/Camaros and sports cars actually made very little sense to buy used.

rear wheel drive cars don't do well here. Except for special cars like GT350's. Audi's and Porsches hold their value well. Trucks, Subarus and Jeeps are expensive. BMW's and Mercedes used value is terrible here. Almost makes them not worth buying new here.

Yeah but if you go the dealer route for trade in, they will negotiate the cost of a new truck off the msrp price. I've always done better selling the vehicle myself especially if older. Yeah, you'll get the usual tire kickers, but you have to be patient. All it takes is that one buyer.

I can totally see that working for an older vehicle. But for a newer one thats worth 30k, its just another thing too look at. It might be only a couple hundred bucks difference if trading in or selling private party. Might not be worth the hassle selling private party but OP would have to crunch the numbers.

Yeah you know me to well Adam! Off road model is sweet but I don't need all the extras. Buddy of mine @ work just got a 21 Sport Tundra last week from Rahal in the Army Green. It's a double cab. If I am doing it, it's gonna be a crew cab. Love the sliding down rear window. My Amanda wants me to trade Blue in now but the price of fuel I will need a beater as well.

If you do trade Blue, I want that cap!

wow. That is crazy high. Almost three times higher than the Taco MT's crawl ratio and almost double the auto Taco's crawl ratio with 5.29 gears.

I paid $36.5k plus 5.9% interest on my 2018 with 25k miles. I could've bought a brand new one with the same options for 41k and 1.9% interest. The difference in interest paid over the course of the loan is around $4k. Basically you pay the same for a new one or a used one that's just out of warranty. At that point why wouldn't you buy a new one? For me, I prefer Quicksand and it would've taken at least 45 days to get army green in a manual otherwise I would've bought a new one.

Yup. Sand it a little bit, shoot some sealer, and then paint. Super easy and I have most of the supplies and spray gun here in my garage. The 040 super white on my truck is single stage, so even easier to paint! BAP's in Chambersburg carries everything I need.

Cool. It's a Leer XL model sliding window between cab and cap. Side windows crank out, carpeted inside, tracks on top from factory. Good Lord what am I doing?

Seems like a good deal for you. Do u like the new truck better? If so, it was a great move for you because it’s what you wanted
