New trucks are always nice, but losing that kind of money a deal breaker for me.......especially for getting into the same kind of truck.

If I were the OP, I wouldn't do it.

... and yes, that was a straight up sales call to the OP from the dealer. ;)

Your the reason they make these sales calls. There's always a sucker for every scheme. I'm not sure where you live but any new vehicle you buy is subject to the full tag, title and tax. They don't care if you trade something in.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
^^ That's right. They aren't going to pay your sales tax. Enjoy your '12.

this is essentially a lease mentality.. you are always driving a relatively new car, have warranty etc.. but you are resigned to:

    1: Make payments forever
2: Never actually own the car

of course thats assuming you saw the same benifit again in the future..

They can make more $ on a used vehicle's than a new one's

If you fell into that trap the dealer wins on both ends.

    Keep your truck :)

Typical own it mentality. 1) fail to realize you make payments forever with owning. You just prepaid them all up front. Its called depreciation. You are losing your money every month but you would rather spend it on sn old POS.

    2) With a lease you don't own it. Great!! You also don't tie up all your money in a vehicle.

    3) You wont be losing 3500. For that money you get 12 more months bumper to bumper. You get 12 more months of driveline coverage. You get new belts. New alternator. New radiator, tires, engine, diffs, transmission, lights, etc etc etc etc. Plus one year newer model which will add 2-3k compared to your 2012 whenever you sell or trade. So you get that money back on the back end.

His truck is only a year old. It's not like it's 5 years old. I could see that if it was that old. With the truck being a year old doesn't make any sense to have longer payments, lose money on his 12'. Like other posters, we don't agree with you.

You should move. Any vehicle is subject to full tax. A new vehicle purchase in my state gets a credit for the trade value so you don't pay tax on the same money twice. Drive out and check out my sales contract.

Good. I will still sleep well. Anytime you want to compare financial statements, let me know. If his payment is the same how is he losing money? He drove the truck for a year. He lost money on it......its called gas. He did get use out of the vehicle which also has value.

If you are worried about money, don't own vehicles. They all cost money. They almost always lose money.

If you enjoy buying a vehicle and driving it for 20 years then the dollar cost average looks better depending on repairs and replacement costs. Not to mention efficiency and safety and technology improvements. I actually place more value on my life and the lives of my family so I tend to get new vehicles with modern up to date safety gear.

I just sold my 2008 Evo X for 3500 more than I bought it for 4 years ago. So you can make money if you can gind a vehicle from someone in a financial bind.

Plus 1. I was not aware of the forum rule that said the threads ends when the OP bails. Sorry.

If someone calls me out I am going yo respond. I never said I was right. I just made a reasonable argument.

Why did you choose beavis and not butthead?

Instead of attacking the message you make fun of the messenger. Typical result in a loss of argument.

Your argument isn't reasonable, moron. If he wanted to buy a new truck every year, he'd be better off selling his truck outright and buying th other one out right. The depreciation of the truck can't be more than $1500 or so. They're asking him to take a $3500 hit. If you are happy to make a payment your whole life, that's fine. I prefer to own my vehicles. I'll pay $35k for a truck and keep it 15 years. You'll pay thousands each year and at the end of 15 years, you'll have spent more and own nothing.

I'm not going to argue with you because you got your back up because no one is agreeing with what you're saying. I am not going to stoop to your level. So you can use your e-thugging on someone else. Have a nice day!

Now, now. There is no reason to start calling him names. You don't need to point out what others are thinking. We always strive for high expectations here at TW lol.

Dealerships will say damn near anything to get you to buy a new vehicle. A buddy at work got a letter from his dealership saying that they had a costomer looking for his exact vehicle and made some kind of offer to my buddy. His car is a white Chevy Aveo manual transmission, manual windows & locks and a SHIT ton of hail damage that the dealership is well aware of. Don't do it
