I don't get the whole Tesla Truck thing, I mean the shit looks like a bad prop from an 80's Sci fi Movie.

It’s to appeal to simple-minded people.

    triangle=the future

they can wrap what’s left of their brains around this concept.

I just wanna see how they fit a wiper blade, unless Elon is cancelling the rains.

I predict a BIG mono blade design coming out of the center of the cowl area.

That’s what they came up with for the Aston Martin bulldog that the cyber truck is mostly based on.

the cool thing about their tesla vehicles is that they dont look like EVs. They look like normal every day sedans.

This truck ugh the design. Cant imagine thats what final production will look like, if it is that is just sad.

Tried finding a video of this operating. It just slides back and forth. Very common on ships. Easy to mount in the cowl.

I think a large percentage of its buyers will be geek/techie types, not real truck guys. Marques Brownlee is a classic example of the target market for this truck... 20 something Youtube personality, reviews cell phones mostly, drives Tesla Model 3, lives in a city. He pre-ordered one.

Bottom line, it's a trendy vehicle with a lot of buzz right now, and it will appeal to the trend-seeking types looking to be noticed.

The current Tesla designs don't tickle my fancy but some of you sound like Model T owners commenting on the futuristic Ford Model A.

Good for Tesla for designing something different.

See, but I wonder if this is the cynical, failed futurism we’ve come to accept. Resist! I agree it’s odd looking, but what does the truck of the future look like? (Cue the fifteen vocal people who think it’s a 4.0 2nd gen with disk brakes and a driver a-pillar grab handle.) Or you could buy this for 65k, which I find worse:

If I have to endure Ford dragging the Bullitt badges out yet again in 2020, my kids should have to endure the Pitbull and the Countach and the Tron angles of the 80s rehashed indefinitely. Fair’s fair.

Hah. I work on those wipers on ships all the time. The drive mechanisms are huge, and super noisy. Good thing there’s no engine under to hood, because they’ll need all that space for the wiper machinery.

Pivoting a wiper, like on a traditional car, is easy, and relatively quiet. Running a linear wiper is a whole other ball of wax. That’s why it needs that big belt box above it, and that doesn’t even include the motor drive, and reversing gearbox.

Cybertruck looks like something people in the 1980s thought people would be driving in the year 2020

I don’t think that’s entirely fair. The Tesla’s design is extremely lazy. They didn’t design much at all. I think it’s worthy of critique without hating on the future.

To me, it’s not an original design, it’s just something they lifted from others and put out there to grab headlines.

    THIS

I don't see why people don't understand that. If you want a body that is extremely resilient but boxy, get a cybertruck. If you want a body that is fragile as hell but looks nice, get any other car.

Boxes are the least strong shape. That’s why anything requiring strength is never square. Pressurized airplanes and deep sea submersibles for instance.

Telsa will bullshit and bafflegab about the shape of the truck being some feature, but it’s just design at the end of the day.
