So you don't go to the internets to complain about your issues or problems. You just come here to complain about OTHER people complaining. Oh the irony.

Not everyone lol. Just the ones who say the same thing in every thread ten thousand times and state opinion as fact.
There are differing opinions too (like, the opinion is this is a really good truck) and just wanted them to be heard as loud as the others. They were getting smothered by the sheer volume of other posts from a few members.

Doggman to be fair ...it appears only one true performance option exists: OVTune. I am unaware of any other tuners, chips, turbos or S/Cs. I think Rick's point still stands. The shiftsense Pro isn't in the same category as a Tune or Turbo/Charger but ok if you want to include that there are TWO options.

What other "bolt ons" that have a discernable impact on performance are there? Please don't say exhaust or CAI.....

I love my truck, AT is amazing, shifting is great, power is perfect. For the record, I have had zero...ZERO TSB's done for my transmission and it is fantastic and zero recalls. To be honest, if the issues were as wide spread as it sounds like on TW, I highly doubt dealers would be offering this much ($32k-$35k) for a trade in. They know they can sell them because they are great trucks. Most cars/trucks could take as much as a $10k depreciation hit on a trade within the first year...I wouldn't blame the truck as much as your expectations. You bought a truck you did not like. My truck has not changed since the test drive or the over night test I did. Like many others, we knew what we were buying and really love the trucks. Just go to a dealer and see what they will offer you, it is pretty simple.

Yes, Tacoma's have been good trucks. Not enough time has past to see if the 3gen is as reliable as some past models. As far as price/value, imo, many have bought into the Toyota hype. When I look at the issues some have had with the likes of the 2gen frame rust and the 3g with some powertrain issues some owners have expressed, I wouldn't pay what some are getting for a used 3gen.

I have owned a 1st gen and a 2gen Tacoma. My last was a 06 4x4 sport. Yes, Toyota is getting premium prices for the Tacoma's because buyers are willing to pay the price. Each to their own. Purchase what makes you happy.

URD Spec U exhaust and power extractors. I'm not saying those make huge power. They don't. But what's new? NA V6's don't pull big power from bolt-ons. Regardless of that the products are available right now and are without a doubt "true performance options". The only thing missing is FI which is admittedly the only real route to big power on a NA 3.5L V6. Is what it is. If anyone expected anything different they were naive. Even so Magnuson has said on multiple occasions they have a supercharger for the Taco in the works so it is on the horizon. To expect it already is asking way too much considering the platform, in fact what we have already is more than one should have expected for the platform.

And fwiw I do not consider the shift sense a "true performance option"

I wanted to trade mine a few months ago, but seeing as to how it has been wrecked, no dealer wanted to touch it because it shows on the the Carfax. I really need a full-size, but since the only offer I got was for $24k, I said fuck it and I'm just gonna build it and pay it off.

Thank goodness for having a bank account she doesn't know about

One thing to keep in mind when selling private vs trading is the tax difference. You wont have as much taxes to pay when trading as you would buying out right. Most of the time, the extra $2-3K you might get from a private sale barely offsets the tax break from a trade. Not worth the trouble most of the time.

Second, I love my '16. 16k miles and still loving it. I'll admit, driving it stock drove me nuts. 5100's and HS# AAL with 265 KO2's solved all my problems. Truck shifts great now, the quality is very nice. MPG is what I expected. I agree with most, glad I did not read this site prior to my purchase. I would have ended up with a 2nd Gen, ha.

Third, I recently talked to a dealer about trading my 2WD SR5 Double cab in on a '17 T4R or '17 Tacoma TRD OR. They were willing to give me $30k for my used '16. The deals are out there. Don't let them rape you on the trade in. Dealers make plenty of money off the financing, used car sales, and so on. Shop around through email. It's easy to find the deal if you are patient and willing to do some typing.

Good news is the Tacoma has great resale value. If someone can't get out of their Tacoma, then something is definitely wrong.

    https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-resale-value-awards/best-resale-top-10-cars/

My 16 Tacoma has been flawless. Not one single problem or issue. Since you stated you are considering GM, I will share my experiences with my 15 Yukon XL. To keep this post short, I will stick to recent major issues.

99k miles - transmission pump grenaded. Transmission line leaking. $3000 rapair. Luckily still had 248 miles left on warranty.

102k miles - condenser failed (google this, known problem. They all fail and GM does nothing about it. Part on backorder by 35,000 units. Takes 2 months to get fixed) $700

    115k - rear end blows up. $2,200 - GM picked up $1,200.

The 14 Silverado had 9 recalls. More than any other car that year. And the quality has not gotten any better. Do some research into the new GMs. They are not what they used to be.

What surprises me I hear how simple the Gm v8 are and they are bulletproof

I have family members with different generation of escalades

80-130k miles tons of problems arise, not to mention interiors falling off

My land cruisers/LX are built to such a higher standard compared to them, and we both pay the same amount

What surprises me is all these failures on GM stuff

Guaranteed I would have. And seeing that I got my new truck for $36500 before ttl with a $40498 MSRP (jbl tech or) and private party value on the old truck is about $32k I doubt it mattered. This is Tacoma number 7, they have strong resale that's not really in question. Have you seen the resale market? My trade they had listed for $34k it sold in 2 weeks. But please continue with your nonsense.

OP, I traded my 16 Tacoma due to too many issues not being solved. Many people have great trucks with no issues and I am glad for them, but I got one with plenty of issues. Oh well. I traded mine for a 17 4runner PRO. I lost very little, and am happy I traded. I liked my taco and planned on keeping it for a long time, but I couldn't keep paying on something I couldn't enjoy anymore. Whatever you are wanting to trade for, the dealer may surprise you on trade in, just watch the numbers closely. Only you know what you are comfortable paying/losing.

My first new Toyota truck in 1986 had six ply tires. If I ran over a bug I could feel it.

Depends on the individual state tax laws. In OK we pay tax on the full purchase price on trade ins. So I sell private party.
