I live my 2014 Tacoma sport but with two kids now it's tight in the back. Car seats and my toddler sits in a booster seat behind me and I gotta pull up way to close to the steering wheel or she kids my seat. So, looking to go full size and want to see what others recommend. I am a Toyota fan but with the full size should I consider the F150 it seems to beat out the Tundra a little. Thoughts ?

    Why 3rd gen?
Tundra will out last the F150 and get shittier mileage doing so.

I have owned only F250s. One access and one double cab. The only reason I sold the access was for the back seats, and it was more want (for my husband) than need. I am debating getting another access cab when I trade my beast in for a 150.

I personally love my Fords. My first one needed a new tranny around 70k BUT that was before I bought it off someone I knew and it was an abused ranch truck. I've really have had no other issues with either one.

The Tundra is not in consideration for ne even though I love Toyota. The gas milage sucks, there are no engine options, and the interiors suck at the price point. They also are ugly. They are getting better, but ugly.

I would go F150. If I had money coming out of my butt I'd get another 250 for looks but they are very expensive otherwise. Still the sexiest truck On the market though.

The F150 is a great truck, drives wonderful, and has exceptional interior options to make it IMO a luxury family truck. Go check out the thread of Tacoma DCLB or F150 Supercrew. Lots of use guys bickering in there and some guys got an F150 instead of a 16 Taco.

Go test drive both the super crew and the super cabs. Access cabs these days are pretty big as far as backseats go.

    Aaaaah... OK, I get it.

The Ford people are lost on the Toyota forum again. Make sure you get a GPS unit in your new truck.

I think he wants a 1/2 ton gas pickup. Owned a loaded 13 EB, engine and tranny were good but the technology crap drove me nuts. Also it went to the dealer 4 times in about a 3 month span (sun roof, back up camera, cooled seats & door lock actuators all needed fixing).
he's asking a legit question, albeit in the wrong section but you should give him some positive, unbiased criticism.

if the issue is hauling around children, I suggest a minivan, I believe Plymouth still makes a nice one!

I had a 2011 Tundra for 3 years. I've never owned a Ford so I can't really comment on them. But after owning a Tundra and several other full size GM trucks I honestly can't see where anyone makes anything better then the Tundra for a full size truck. The Tundra will most likely get you 1-2 mpg worse then other brands but that is only because the rear gearing is a lot lower. Put a 4.10 or 4.30 rear gear in a F150, GM, or Ram and the mpg will be the same. I think all the new trucks of each brand are really nice. I do think the Tundra is a little better quality but it might not have as much gizmos on it to go wrong too. Check out your dealer for each brand as well and see which one you like the best. Then test drive both.

Actually the difference in MPGs is closer to 5-6. 10 if you look at the Ram Ecodiesel.

So more significant than 1-2 difference. Makes an even greater difference towing. The Turbo in the F150 will blow the Tundra out of the water when towing.

The Tundra already lags but when you use it as a truck it gets worse. The other brands vary less in their mileage because of their design.

Guy I work with just bought a used 15' F250 powerstroke 5.7 Diesel with 20k miles. It laid down on him at work. He's living hard rite now. Had to leave his truck at work and bum a ride home. Do yourself a favor. Look into the 15' Silverado. Nearly the same MPG as 16' taco but its: full sized, V8, more towing, more HP and cost less. Yeah less resale, but I keep vehicles till the engine's lose compression. With all the issue's I'm already hearing about with the 16' taco, reliability isn't a guarantee in Toyota's favor.

Drive all the big 3 trucks. They all beat the Tundra on efficiency and warranty. While the Tacoma is a market leader, the Tundra was an answer to a question that was never asked.

What's wrong with that? Some have an open mind and will give him objective advise.

The Tundra will cost the most. You can get 2015 F150 XLTs right now with 10 to 14k off of MSRP.

I have 2 kids. I had a 2nd gen Double cab- too small. Traded it in 2014 for a 3rd gen Crewmax and haven't turned back. Plenty of power, and room.
