Well I need to be somewhat smart about it. Who knows if Hollywood will shut down again.

When we came out for the inspection in August it was in the 80’s. Not bad at all.

So far Delta’s been the best. They don’t book middle seats. Prices are definitely creeping up though.

Sounds like you got it figured out! I’m in LA. Work in Sports broadcasting and audio post production. Paying $2200/month for a tiny 2 bed 1 bath. Anywhere else where I can have some land seems like a better deal.

also, I drove silverados and chevys for years before I bought my Taco. That v8 engine is a beast, I’d buy a beater Chevy over A beater Ford any day.

I’m a freelance Steadicam/Technocrane Operator. We were in Palos Verdes, loved it, grew up there, great schools but for the long term I just didn’t see myself retiring in CA. The thought of the boys running around and playing in fresh air and lots of land was very appealing. My wife can work from home so it works out. Parents still live in PV so staying with them. I got very lucky. Timing was right, sold our house in 5 days and left for CO. So far so good. Love it out there. The power of the V8 is awesome but maybe an old carbureted 350 will suffice for ranch work.

There are sections of the 105 corridor that demand that.

My wife is a makeup artist, so she's gotta be out here. Were still young so we'll make the bulk of our career here but we already have plans to leave in the future. idk why anyone would retire here. take the money and go somewhere else, where it will last you a lot longer! Especially with kids.

And HELL YEAH. Get an old school chevy. I love those trucks man. My best friend in high school had a, I believe, 1979 Chevy pickup with a small block in it. Loved that thing.

I won’t argue with you about the parking but the Tundra is the only 1/2 ton left that gets worse MPG than midsize trucks.

You are pretty close to a group of us in the Colorado threads then. We are spread out on along the south side of 470 from Littleton/Highlands Ranch to Castle Rock/Elizabeth.

If you haven't already, go check out Next Door Bar and Castle Cafe, great bar/cafe in downtown Castle Rock.

Plenty of good wheeling around that area. Easy and hard stuff.

Feel free to reach out if you need anything!

Look into the 2.7L F150's. Forced induction is great at high elevation and the new F150's look nice! The F150 hybrid also looks attractive with 24mpg combined and 430hp/570lb-ft tq to go along with the onboard generator which may prove useful around the ranch. Both should perform beautifully in the mountains, more so than a N/A engine. I don't know if the 2021's or the hybrid are available yet but you may be able to find deals on a 2020 Ecoboost.

If I had to go full-size today, i'd go F-series followed by Ram. Chevy dropped the ball on exterior and interior styling.

I have a side gig on my family's ranch and even my truck I actively try to keep nice just hauling an ATV back and forth gets beat on. It's always dirty and I can't remember the last time I looked through an unbroken windshield. No wonder my grandpa's trucks always looked like hell. You definitely want an old beater and preferably one that's already got a flat bed on it. Any old domestic pickup will do, I wouldn't worry about the make. They all break but parts are cheap and plentiful. I'd also recommend gas over diesel. Maintenance and repairs will be much cheaper.
