Why not just buy a decent cooler and remove it from your bed when you are done? These things seem very gimmicky to me. Reminds me of the cooler bins under the floor of my wifes old Dodge Journey. Never used them. That vehicle was a pile of junk too like most Dodges.

I just took mine out yesterday as well (I'm in Maine if there's anyone looking for some). In case anyone wants to know, all you need is to take the rail off the side (4xT30 bolts), the rear bed D ring mount (T40) and one bolt inside the box near the front of the bed where the silver U bracket tie down is normally (T40). I had to use a 4" extension on my socket to get to that one since there's so little room in there.

Speaking of the silver U bracket, does anybody know where you can get one of those? I don't really need it, but there's just two empty holes on each side of the front of my bed now. Or anything better to mount there?

Hey how did you get the D rings off? Driver's side came off easily with my impact driver. The other will not budge.

Any 3rd gen. They use the existing bed and rail holes. I took mine out as well.

IMO, if you are wanting to remove them then don't buy the adventure or trail edition. That's mainly what you are paying for.

Eventually got them off with some muscle. I recommend a better impact driver than I have, or just a breaker bar. They’ll come off with the right tools.

Those Trail Edition boxes make the truck less useful. (The short bed is small enough as it is.) If by some luck you end up with a truck that has them, remove them immediately and sell them to some other fool. (I'll bet Toyota discontinues them fairly soon. This is a marketing mistake on their part, on a par with the Edsel fiasco.)

You are definitely also getting special wheels and off road tires, blackout emblems, bed plug, and chances are a color that wasn’t available for cheaper. (For me it was an army green)

i also like the interior, the tech package that came with mine.

paid $37500 idk i am happy with the purchase

Anyone else’s opinion doesn’t matter as long as you’re happy with your truck. Congrats on the purchase!

How much are these going for? I want to sell these. It's been using up significant space in the garage, would be nice to get some $ to get more parts in.

I think new Toyota charges something stupid like $700 bucks or something for them. I would say price them lower than someone can buy a YETI cooler and hope for the best. I saw a guy local a while back that had his listed on offerup for $250 bucks and they had been for sale for a while. Kind of a novelty item and failed appeal attempt to keep up with the cooler they threw on the slide out in the venture edition 4runners. At least that was a real cooler tho. I would say if you could get $2-300 bucks for them it would be a good deal for you. Just my $0.02
