I'm not sure why Tacoma world does not promote Trail Gear sliders. They are one of the toughest sliders out there. I think they are very good looking and the price is very good. They come raw and you have to drill to mount them. They are at 0 degree, so they stick out far enough if you bumped into a tree the sliders would stop before hitting your door.
I had them on my FJ and had Trail Gear on it.
No I'm not from Trail Gear and I'm not getting paid for saying this.

My TG sliders kept my door from crumpling in on me when I rolled my truck, it got a small scratch but no dent. They're also made with DOM, which beats the pants off of most other sliders out there for price and material choice. I'd guess there's less support for them as a whole because they're not like BAMF or similar companies around here that are smaller businesses and producing a more unique product, made in the US and by hand.

Still, best bang for the buck, and I was able to get them through 4 wheel farts, shipped to the store so no shipping fees, just a smidge of tax.

This is the only trail gear product I will/would buy. Well I'll probably buy their frame plates as well. This was the first mod I did on my truck back in 05 and last year was the first time I dented them. I have abused them, they are rusting like crazy and keep on going. My only regret is getting weld on sliders, I should have went bolt on.

I don't have first hand experience installing them, but we have sold quite a few sets and everybody has really liked them. Great Price!

Why should you have went bolt on?
I found this thread by searching "sliders prep". I have TG sliders sitting in the shop waiting for prep. Trying to find exactly how to do it since prep is 99% of the job.

For prep I sanded the sliders with da sander and hand sanded any spots that the da could not get.
Next I used a mineral spirits and clean rag to remove oil. Next I used a metal prep solve to prep the metal. Then this is my finding, I use windex window cleaner.
Now Prime 3 coats. Progressively heavyer each coat. Wait min. 12 hrs.
Next paint 4 coats. Last being heavy coat.
Now the hardest part. Wait 2 days before mounting them.
Then touch up bolt heads with paint to prevent rusting.
    Done!!!!!

I do bolt on because if a car were to hit the sliders and damage them. You can replace them easier. And if I sell the truck they can be removed for the next person if they want. Also I just dont like to do a lot of welding to the frame. Just me I guess. Each to there own.

Thanks OP  I sanded today but couldn't paint. Will clean with 2 cans of brake cleaner then prime with self etching primer tomorrow. Problem is I only got one can... I feel like I'll need more? Got 1 can of flat black paint and 1 can of textured flat black paint.

Is there anything you think I don't have enough of?
Also how long was your drilling and mounting process? How did you get them at 0 degrees? I bought them during their free shipping sale and they have slight angle.

Little slim on the paint, but that's ok. I will tell you drilling the double frame is a bi**ch. Make sure you drill in steps, little by little. I drilled two holes each side. Then marked all the holes, pulled them down and finished drilling. I used a air drill 90 degree, it gets in all the hard spots. If you can and know how, sharpening drills after every two holes will make your life better!!
As for 0 degrees that is how they come. Should not be at a angle after mounting.
    Have fun, Bret

I recently made the switch from nfab nerf bars to trail gear sliders and couldn't be happier. Had a local shop weld them on and they are stout! Much beefier than the nerf bars and they feel like they could take a beating. 83c60b4c121bb15a983dbe64f488380b_8a5ddfd85b832c68f7da3202a0c2da8a868bef5a.jpg

I should have went bolt on because it would be easier to remove to paint them each year (i have given up on this and just let them rust), and they are a wear item meaning they are made to get beat up and the change out and replace.

Huge thread bump, someone just pointed me towards these as I was thinking of getting N Fab Nerf bars for my truck, after reading this thread I may have to go with these.
