So, I've realized that I'm god awful at editing video, whilst trying to edit video.

Anyone know if Cinder Hills near flagstaff is open and OK to camp?

Up here now, trails off road says its open but it also said East Pocket was. Appear to be a lot of seasonal closures near flag.

Any info would help- thanks!

I was out there Friday and plenty of people are camping there

 

Pretty much anything not leading to private residences in Coconino NF is closed in the winter exception is cinders.

In this case everything in the red is open, most everything else like schultz pass (fr 420) and elden springs road (fr556) are closed with locked gates and threatening signs.

There is some stuff open as you go North and it warms / dries up, but you get into a patchwork of state trust, national forest and navajo nation

Just tossing this one out. Never been but @JeepAndrew threw this one out when we were talking the other day.

 

I've done the other side of that route up and over pioneer pass/Pinal peak area. Cool area

Could be interested in the dripping springs timing dependant. April/May looking rough though with Montana run and Expo weekend

 

Yeah I have my anniversary in april. I have to go to the expo aswell. And we are thinking of running the scooters out to Laughlin for a weekend in april too.

 

Also doing the desert to the pines and camping up near young. Might be a better trip for the middle of summer trip to get you all out of the heat of the valley.

 

Did you wind up finding a decent spot?

 

Yeah that's kinda what we ran an offshoot of the AZ bdr. BDR from oracle up to Roosevelt then the cut back to Tonto basin We camped above Roosevelt lake then the next day headed towards young then cut across down to tonto basin instead. Lots of camping out there

 

Yeah there is quite a bit back there. And still stays pretty calm with the amount of people compared to across the street on top of the rim.

 

It's time to get another trip on the books.
