I see a lot of posts where folks are pulling RV campers. I am pulling an enclosed car trailer and wanted to add a rear camera so I can back the thing up into the storage yard. Also, I don't have towing mirrors on the truck, but I thought maybe I could use such a camera for that purpose as well.

What are you using for backup cameras? Anyone not tow with mirrors? (I can see pretty well on either side of me, just not directly behind).

I just added one to my 15 and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. It makes hooking up sooooo easy. You look at the ball and younge literally. All I did was buy the camera from Amazon and it was plug and play for me.

I mean putting a camera on the back of the trailer. So I can see behind the trailer when backing up or even on the highway.

The truck has a camera integrated into the radio. Worth ever penny!

    I'd go with tow mirrors.

Some states require tow mirrors when a trailer is attached and I don't see how a rear facing camera on the trailer would help you see another vehicle in your blind spot.

I use a backup camera that displays the image on my Garmin. It has a very wide angle display. Off to work but I can post more info later of you like.

Please do. The reviews of these various things on Amazon are spotty as best. Because I unload the car from the back, I don't have many reasons to back it up except to store the trailer and move it off my dead end street.

Someone else posted about mirrors being a legal requirement. That's good to know as I might tow through one of those states. I saw a Taco with extended mirrors once, basically replacing the stock mirrors. That was kinda cool too, but made me think of this guy.

I just posted a camera solution yesterday at https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-controller-solutions-on-2017-tacoma.502185/. This setup allows me to see behind me and covers enough so that the installed mirror will pick up the area beside the trailer. This setup uses a monitor that mounts on the mirror so I don't need to find a location on the dash or center console to mount a monitor. Plus the whole setup was less than the cost of any aftermarket tow mirror setup.

Sorry for the late reply. The garmin accessory back up camera is the BC-30. I have the camera wired to my marker lights so all I have to do is turn on my marker lights in the truck and the camera will display instantly on my Garmin with me having to touch it. When driving at night simply hit the back button on the Garmin and it back on the nav screen. The grid lines you see are adjustable so I set mine for 1 foot wider than the camper and the closest red line is set around 4 feet from the bumper. It nice not having to have an extra monitor just for the back up camera. Range of the wireless camera is about 45'.
